  • Fan Whine

Vintage Merlot has suddenly developed a whine and continues a bit after turning off ignition. Assuming it is the electric cooling fan. Question is: how far can it safely be driven to a shop for replacement? I live approximately 22 miles from my shop.

Why not play it safe and have it towed?

If it is the fan whining it most likely has bad bearings. Try spinning it by hand and see if it is tight or noisy.
If it just started whining my guess is driving it 22 miles won't be a problem.

As long as it is winning it is turning so you should be okay to drive it to the shop. Just keep a close eye on the temp gauge during the drive,

Roger, what was your outcome with this? Hope nothing too drastic. Also, what shop do you use in Slidell for your bird? I currently use a shop in Mandeville, but may need a backup.
