Replacing the battery provided no joy. I’ll probably replace with a double din. That’s a project for another day.

Just for giggles I gave it another try today and it WORKED! It’s cooler today so I think it was the cooler temperature and perhaps the battery being in for a while.

The second rule is, don't pay someone else to do something you can do yourself.

Glad for you. I still think the battery was the culprit, but cannot explain why it had to wait to reset the radio/cd. Another electrical mystery associated with our beloved birds. Just curious, what is the cost of a new motorcraft vented battery? Mine is six years old and probably next on the unexpected expense list.

Mine came in at $198 which included a $16 refundable core charge and sales tax. The old Motorcraft lasted for nine years. That’s part of why I went back for another.

Did you have it installed, Gene?

Last fall I got one for $139 at the parts counter in my local Ford dealer and installed it myself. It was less expensive that an equivalent battery at any of the major auto parts stores.

No, I did the installation. Pretty darn heavy. Don’t know that I’d do it again.

Good to know. Unfortunately all car batteries have become more expensive. I replaced the battery in my toyota tacoma last week, 3yr warranty battery was $175.00 at NAPA. I was told that our current above average heat wave is causing battery failures.

I’m sure the heat was a contributing factor. I can’t complain though as the old one lasted nine years. If this one does the same I will probably be in the ground.

I understand. I quit buying extended warranties a couple of years ago.
