I may be looking at a 68 2 door landau soon. I have a pic of the data plate, which I've tried to decode. However, the Trim code is 4YB; all of the references I've found online only list two digits. The 4Y part of it seems to indicate Gold; but I don't know the meaning of the B. Any help is appreciated.

Hello
I am uncertain whether this helps in any way....
I had a 1965 Landau about 20 years ago. Below is what I have handy describing the various digits of the VIN of that particular car. I can't find the original decoding file with all the codes . It might have been a print out . If your VIN is in the same format, I can look in the old papers to see whether I still have the decoder.

I'm not sure if this will help, but I dug around on the internet and found a sheet that says that 4YB in 1968 Thunderbird means "Light nugget gold crinkle vinyl and light nugget gold kiwi pattern cloth"
Here is where I found it:

I'll try to attach a screen shot...

That is quite a refernce manual! I've never seen anything like that before. I think it has a lot of good info, once you figure out how to read all the codes, etc. In any event, it does finally give me an answer to my question. So thank you very much for going out of your way to find this, and then share it. This obviously wasn't earth shattering info, but I just like to know these things. Take care.
