  • Dashboard switch

I have no lights on the dashboard at night, I can’t see the speedo, tach, fuel gauge or temp. Mechanic said it’s a switch, but he can’t find one. Any suggestions on where to get one?

Ah yes, the good old FEM problem. We all seem to get it sooner or later. I agree with contacting Thunderbird Bob. He fixed mine and it’s been great ever.

This is assuming the thumbwheel dimmer switch is fully engaged, right?

Welcome to the world of cars with computers.
In the real world most but not all auto manufacturers lose interest in replacement parts after 9 to 12 years. So there's no possibility of finding a new module, unless you luckily come across a new old stock that sat on the shelf. The good news is Thunderbird Bob and other places like him have technicians and engineers that rebuild the old modules. Usually they do it with better components since they can see what failed. We see this with our Thunderbirds. But I have seen it over the years with General Motors also. Late 90s Chevy and GMC trucks were famous for the ABS controller dying. And there were people to rebuild those. It's inconvenient because your vehicle will be down for 2 to 4 weeks depending on shipping and R&R.
So do your due diligence on diagnosis and when you're sure it's the module pull it out and get it fixed, and get back on the road.

            Good luck,
            Al
