  • Securing Bird emblems !

Has anyone had any luck or advise on what is the best way to keep the "bird" emblems (wings) from coming up.

Is there an easy way to secure them down so that the wash mitt quits snagging them?

I haven't looked at a way to secure the emblems, but you are correct about snagging them when washing. If you get in a hurry with the wash mitt you could easly snag an emblem and rip it off the car. I can see a problem coming with this! I hope someone has a simple solution.

Be careful, very careful. Also watch out for the scripts on the rear fenders.

The last time I returned from the hand car car wash, I noticed the left rear fender was a Thunderb with the ird hanging by a thread. Luckily a little superglue affixed it to the old adhesive that was still there. You are right though I notice threads always stuck in the emblems, lettering. I may start washing it myself.

I just had my front one replaced by Ford. Their mechanic must have snagged it with a rag or something when working on my fluid leak. They did a nice job and I noticed that the adhesive seemed to be very heavy. Prehaps Ford can tell us what it is.

Had my first incident this past weekend. Caught the wing tip of the front fascia emblem on the cargo pocket of my shorts while detailing the interior of the hood! As soon as I felt the snag I knew the emblem was a gonner.

Will be placing an order of the emblem today from http://1stfordparts.com/.

Suprisingly, its cheaper to buy on-line with shipping than from the local Ford dealer service parts department.

                  Hi there,

What's the name of that really good double-sided tape - is it 3M or something like that.

I used this to secure a few grill badges on to the front of our car and it holds really well. I'm thinking if some really small strips of this could be placed under the script and emblems, this should hold the tips down to stop them catching on things.

When I ordered a new V8 logo for the back of our car, it came with this already attached.

                  Just a thought, Gordon.

I use a 3M double sided tape which can be bought in small rolls at most automotive supply stores.
