    Re: Waxing/Polishing your Bird

Have never heard of ' Clay Bar ' before, what is it, polish or compound or applicator?

It is an actual bar of clay that you rub over the surface (after wetting it down with a spray aplicator). The clay picks up debris imbedded in the clear coat. You have to knead the clay every so often to keep the outer surface from becoming 'clogged' with grit. Rub your hand over the surface before and then after....you will be amazed.

I am using a clay bar for the first time I just finished my Bird and now to apply polish. I am amazed at how easy and great the clay bar works. I am very disabled and can not stay on my feet long. I did most of the clay bar work seated in a chair. When I did the front valance I had to lay on my back to do it, and Blenda had to help me up [ what a chore we had ]. Any way now for the polish Turtle wax Ice I have read much about this and i beleive it will be geat.

I failed to mention Terry Dixon sold me on the clay bar and Turtle wax Ice. Thank you Terry. Now if we could figure out a way to get Linda and Blenda to do the work.

David I love the clay bar and have been using it for a couple of years now.
I switched from ICE to Black Magic which is very good also.
Linda used to clean her motorcycle before a bike show but we don't show it anymore. Her throphys are taking a lot of space I could use.

Nice bikes, Terry. We had a great time in your town back in '05.

I remember when you all were here. Over at the University I think.

I have been lusting for a "Bird" since I saw the first retro.

I wish I would have gotten one earlier. I'm getting older and decided not to wait any longer. I have always loved cars and bikes. Been riding bike off and on for 40 years. I do think the bird is winning out.

Linda and her Bike look great, and your Bike makes you look good. You have many beautiful views in your country.

                      Hi Roger:

Wow! Thanks for the endorsement. Now I feel like I can't divulge my trade secrets.

Anyway, no buffer for me, and I have a nice one from Black & Decker. If I use it I would feel as though I defiled the evening black finish on my TBird.

Someone mentioned waxing is therapeutic; I agree, at least for me. I get into a zone when I detail my car. Last weekend I detailed the seats and dash. Next thing I knew three hours went by and only seemed like 20 minutes.

                      More to follow,

                      Lou

PS: I am setting up my half of the garage kinda of like a showcase for my TBird. When its done I'll post some pictures.

I think the car looks great. I am sold on the fact that the clay bar really cleans the serface of the car, and the Turtle wax Ice goes on and comes off easily.

I used the same set last Saturday. Clayed it and then used Ice wax (first time). Car looks great.
