Here in Oregon, we have stoplights on our Interstate entrance ramps. Cars line up side by side and the lights on either side alternate green, allowing for friendly regulated entrance and merging onto the highways. Personally, I think the practice sucks, but I'm originally from the east coast, where it was always every man for himself with every merge. Not only is this Oregon lighted entrance practice a time waster, it's a gas waster as well.
But thats not the reason for my post.
This morning, as I was slowly crawling up the entrance ramp to I-205N, awaiting my turn for a friendly merge, I turned to look at the car next to me and I was pleasantly surprised to see a sweet blue '55 awaiting his own turn for a friendly merge. Here we were, 50 years of Thunderbird history, side by side. Had I been able to teleport to one of the cars behind us, I surely would have taken a picture of this historic scene. As a added bonus, both of us had custom license plates that started with "F"
I found it odd that the driver of the '55 never looked at me, nor acknowledged the history that we made this morning.
His loss, I say.
