Battery Costs?

I just called a local Ford dealer to get a battery and they want $190 for one. YIKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What have you been paying?

I had one priced at the Lincoln dealer I have my car serviced at last week.

When I had the '02, it's battery was replaced at 3 years by dealer and it cost me $139.

David, I just bought a new battery. I don't see a place for the vent tubing, but I can't lift it out of the box.
The part # is BXT 66 650

Now, that's the same # on the original battery in the trunk, and I can see that there is a vent tube coming off the negative end, and through the rear bumper area, but I can't see it clearly w/o removing the plastic liner above it. I have one of the end clip out, but I'm having trouble with the next two. I'm using a flat head screw driver, is there anything easier (out of a normal, basic tool box?

I could use a new battery but ya'll have scared me to death with these prices!

Maybe I could just push start for a while....

I hesitate to state what I paid, without making ABSOLUTELY certain that I have the right battery. That's why I'm trying to find the vent. But, it's too heavy for me to lift out of the box.

My friend says he'll help me out tomorrow.

Meanwhile, I bought a Motorcraft battery, part # BXT 66 650 for $85.00 plus the core - out the door.

The Ford Parts Dept first told me $109.95, then $99.95.

Hey there David!

It's been soooo long since Destin. Anyway, last year I decided it was time to replace the battery, and like you, I got sticker shock as I had a dealer coupon for $89 for battery replacement only to be told it didn't cover the T-Bird battery. My car was in for "The Works" and the battery...the combined cost was $244.

Good luck getting the new battery.

I can't seem to locate my reciept, but I paid $100 for a new battery 3 months ago, that included installation.

Sally -- the vent is at the end of the top cover. It looks oval and is on 1 end. The opposite end is more holllow. I suggest STRONGLY that you hook up the vent.

Kenny: LONG LONG time. Why don't you come to some events?

All: I called around and got one for $109. I'll put it in tomorrow and take the old one back for a core receipt.

Just bought a new battery at Ford two weeks ago. $108 and was charged $25 for them to install it.

The $109 at Ford dealer is what I paid.
Sally the vent is on the negative end at the top and like David said it is not round.
