I accidentally tried to start my 2004 bird with the wrong key. Now the proper key does not work. I tried disconnecting the battery & that did not work.
Does anyone know how to reset it?
I think its just a matter of waiting a short period of time when you've used the wrong key and it's gone into the "no start" mode. something like 15 minutes. I know it happened to us but we were in a position to leave the car where it was and go for dinner. When dinner was over, no problem starting with the correct key.
btw - the computer stored the fact that someone had tried to start the car with an illegal key. Not sure how many key cycles before that clears from memory but it was several weeks later before we took the car in to the dealer for a different problem.
