Re: MIGHT purchase - need some opinions.

This is such a buyers market right now...the dealer with the 02 with 20,000 miles and hardtop just emailed and lowered to $17,500. Last year, when I was looking, an identical TBird was $23,000 I was looking at. Incredible. I'll be checking out both on Saturday. Agreed, the 03 is more desirable, but if it's not in better shape then the 02, then I'll have to pass. I'll keep everyone posted...

      Thanks for the info.
In brief it is 'coil over plug', the explanation and solution is not.
Do a 'search' on COPS and you have a week of reading!!
I have only had mine for a year but have been problem free so far, hope you have good luck with yours too.

        Bruce,

I've had mine for 5 going on 6 year now and have not had a problem. Hope you have the same luck. I wonder if the cooler northern climate might have something to do with it.

Good Luck Frank. I'm sure with either an '02 or '03 you will be thrilled with the ride.

I would be more concerned about the condition of the car and if you like it. The car should make you feel good and if it does you will never question what you paid. My wife and I have so many memories going places that were special because we drove the T-Bird

Know you will love the bird. I am 6'2" and 200# and it can be a little tight getting in and out if you can not open the door all the way. Seem to brush the top of my hair a little at times and it has a tendancy to stick up from static when I get out some times, but really not a problem with the top down. Most of my height is upper and I do not have a problem with leg room. Try raising the front of the seat a little and it seems to give a little more room for us tall guys.

My only complaint is that we waited until last summer (June) to buy - It really made the summer and fall enjoyable.

                Good luck

                Mike

Exactly what I do Mike. Just raising the seat a tad, and a slight tilt is all it takes.

                  Frank: Just do it!!!!!!!!!!!

Be sure the 2003 heated seats work. My driver side just quit working a week ago.
On 2-9-9 dealer quoted repairs at $470. So, getting it fixed.

                        Frank:

I'm 6'2'', 240#, and I've had no problems once I found the right position for the seat. And I'ver had my '02 for almost 1-1/2 years! I've been to TBN and ITC events involving 8+ hours travel time per day in the car and I've never been uncomfortable, and only the obligatory pit stops were necessary to stretch the legs. They are great cruisers. Yes, getting in and out requires a little more effort than for an SUV, but that holds true for a lot of sedans too. It keeps me in shape. Go ahead and take the plunge-you'll never regret it.

My husband is 6'4" and has no trouble with the bird. Of course, the fact that he is jealous that I drive it so much, that even if it were tight, he'd never admit it. We went to Maggie Valley, NC which was about a 10 hour drive and no one was uncomfortable.

It's a great car, and I'll never sell. Of course, with the miserable weather we've been having she has become a garage princess. When the road is dry and it is cold so there won't be a melt down, out she comes.

Frank, I am 6'2" and just drove 540 miles from GA home to FL. It was not the top of my head that was hurting. As for Cashmere607's comment - isn't it great to still have some hair to "stick up" with static! My only mistake was not stopping often enough to stretch. We bought our 05 used and it still has less than 7500 miles. Enjoy and, if in your budget, buy it.
