My PCR has a light green soft top. I've seen a picture of one with a black one. What color combos were available. What is the accent?

    First of many newbie questions.

    Re: PCR Colors

    Hello Dave,

The PCR came only in one color combination - the Ash color soft top. You'll find a number of posts here regarding cleaning and care of this light top. I know there have been discussions of replacing the ash top with a black top on a PCR. I've never seen an actual picture, but I think it would look good. You can also find a lot of information about our Bird's production stats and many pictures at www.portholeauthority.com.

Reinforcing what Chuck said. The PCR, as a special edition, came as a package deal - no options to it. The only visible difference you'll find in them is between a Canadian PCR and the USA PCR. Canadians came without the "fog" lamps or "supplemental parking lights" (SPLs) - they had body color block-off plates instead. You have a special interior, and special color softtop, and special color hardtop, and special hubcaps.

As Chuck says, do check out the forums for care on your softtop to keep it clean. It does take special care because it's light but is worth it.

So the accent is Ash. No options on full, partial or otherwise?

The one with the black top is for sale in Burnett, TX. I considered buying it until I found mine in San Antonio.

        It's listed on autotrader.

My Mom aways said I was special... I think she meant it in a good way.

I noticed in that auto-trader ad, there is no mention of the hardtop. Perhaps that's why it has a black soft-top...maybe in an accident, hardtop damaged and soft-top had to be replaced???

                Hi Dave,

Nice meeting you and your wife. Love your PCR!

I was able to meet up with Dave and his wife last night at a local car enthusiast gathering. We had the only T-Birds there amount an estimated 75 ~ 100 cars - lots of Vetts.

Dave's PCR was the first of that model I've seen and I must say I really like it, especially the interior. Under the parking lot lights I couldn't see the true color of the body but the car looks really clean.

                Welcome to TBN Dave.

                Cliff

Dot -- Does this mean that these "special editions" only came one way???? In other words they all came with the hard top or could you order one without the hard top????

                    Re: PCR Colors

You are correct, Dave. As Dot mentioned, the PCR came only one way - as a premium model with the Ash color hard top. You also have the color-keyed ring in the center of your wheels. The PCR is the only Retro Bird that came with the "Preferred Suede" seat inserts. You will also find on this site discussions of how to clean the seats. I keep a white towel on my driver's seat to avoid dirt or dye from rubbing off There is also a special door and dash aluminum trim for the PCR. The PCR and Cashmere also have a light cream background on the gauges as opposed to white background on most of the Retro Birds. Thanks for the Auto Trader link - it was interesting to see what a PCR look like with a black top.

Enjoy your first weekend with your new Bird.

                    Chuck

Yep, came with the Ash Hartop, stand and cover. Also the soft boot.

                      But no owners manual. Funny.

                          Dave,
We have a Cashmere owner in the Dallas area, who went to Ford regarding the inability to clean the original light colored top on it and it always looking dirty. Ford agreed to replace it with a new black factory top, but would not give him a new top in the original color. Perhaps that was the same type of issue on the PCR you mention.

Wow, a lot of PCR's getting new homes...

The PCR comes in only one trim, or color, and has has three tones: Beautiful, fabulous and stunning... Oh silly me I always mess that up... it would be Gray (interior trim), ash (boot, soft & hard top) and Monterey Mist green (green exterior paint).. more colloquially known as forest green in SUV's but us PCR's don't talk of such things....
