  • Visit To Florida Keys

My wife and I had a nice visit to the Florida Keys. We stayed at Duck Key at the Hawks Cay Resort. Drove around with top down and visited Key West. Problem was we intended to take the Bird, but my wife had too many clothes that she insisted she needed. So the luggage wouldn't fit. Now we had a choice...either take the Jeep Commander or, yes, the Vette. We were able to stow all the luggage in the Vette trunk, however tight and made the trip. Once we unloaded, we were able to put the top down and enjoyed the 70's weather with beautiful sun shine. We sure had a lot of Marquaritas. For you people stuck in the cold north, we drank some extra drinks for you!

Not sure how this usually works, but I'll assume taking the T-Bird and leaving the wife home was not an option?

I think we would have read about a murder in the Keys due to luggage not fitting in the trunk.

Since I am the proud owner of the t-bird leaving me home is not an option.

The first time I was ever to Key West was in 1962 I believe, I was a young Marine fresh out of Boot Camp, 18 years old and ready for anything. They put us out patroling the beaches for Cubans comming ashore in small boats and rafts. They were leaving Cuba becuase they were affaid that JFK was going bomb Cuba becuase the Russians had missiles set up there. They sent us out there to capture them, but didn't give us any ammunition becuase they didn't want us to kill them. Or orders were only in a life threatening situation we could fix bayonets. I've been back 3 or 4 times since then. I rode my Harley down there twice from Daytona during Bike Week. There's always a party on Devall Sreet. Leroy

LOL, that would never happen! Trust me, if I had suggested it, I would have been flipped the bird (no pun intended).

Take inventory of things not worn or used on the trip when you get home, then see what is needed for the next trip!!

Friend of mine always says"pack your bag then take out 3/4 of the items and you'll have enough." I know I've unpacked unworn things on returning.

Humble apologies. I change my original statement to leave the spouse home....

How about a picture of the Vette.
