I purchased a dash mat made by Dashmat. It is for the lincoln ls and has the cutout for the airbag so I taped the underside with bookbinding tape to help hold the flap down in place. I didn't put any tape or velcro on the dash so I can take it out.
When we first bought our black retro, I posted a very similar post to yours.
The best solution I found was to leave the dash alone and buy a good pair of polaroid sunglasses that cut through the reflection on the windshield. Now, I have no problem.
