  • Waterless Car Wash Product

At risk of getting flamed off of TBN, I'd like to find out if any of you out there in Birdland have tried FoamTek? It is a spray-on, wipe-off product that washes and waxes without using any water (except for a damp cloth).
I have used DriWash for years and have been very happy with the results, but the DriWash overspray dries white in crevices; FoamTek supposedly doesn't. Before I take the plunge, I wanted to know if anyone has already given it a try.
    Here is their web site:

    Hi Don,

I have been using a product called Dri Wash'n Guard. It comes in either a spray can or a 32oz bottle that you pour into a pump spray bottle. The results are fantastic and it only takes about 30 min. to do the entire car. I have never used a hose on any of my cars after applying the product. All you have to do is take a wet chamois, wipe a section at a time and dry off with a micro fiber cloth and your done.
I originaly purchased the product at a car show because I was impressed with the demonstration. You never know how good a product is until you use it. I can honestly say, it is the easiest to apply and the shine is fabulous. Also, it cleans glass without any streaks. My wife even uses it to clean the windows in the house.

It is made in Las Vegas and might be the same as you have been using. Let me know.

I've been using a similar product for a couple of years called Fukken Wax. One can will do several cars and it works on all surfaces of the vehicle including the glass, except for tires. I can usually finish a complete car in about 20 to 30 minutes. The website for information is: www.fukkenwax.com

I've never tried anything like that. But my question would be this: If the car is dirty, with road grime, dust, etc., wouldn't that dirt become an abrasive that would put microscratches into the paint surface if you rub it while it's dry? Using water to flush, wash, and rinse has the benefit of minimizing the abrasion from the dirt particles. Comments?

My thought also. My $0.02. I wouldn't use a waterless cleaner on a daily driver given the amount of dirt and grime that can build up. I could see using this product on garage queens, or between regular car washes when the car isn't very dirty. No flame intended, hopefully none taken.

Sounds a bit like quick detailer. Can only use that when car is really free of dust and sand. If not it is asking for problems, specially on a Black Bird if you ask me.

I wondered about scratching too since mine is a daily driver. I think you are right Phil... good for garage Birds not daily drivers.

Has anyone used a product made by Gliptone, called Body Gloss Spray n' Shine? I seen a guy using it on a beautiful black/red 56 Pontiac conv. at the Daytona Beach Turkey Rod Run. Largest car show in the southeast. The shine was magnificent. When I approached him to ask about the product,he quickly put it in the trunk. I took a sneak peak when he walked away and jotted down the name. The only place I could locate it was online,$6.99 a can plus $6 shipping.

I'm pretty sure that product is the same as the others mentioned Ron. It's either a straight quick detailer or a detailer with some wax product in it. I'm also sure that that product did not make the car's paint look magnificent alone. Products like these are only as good as the paint job they are being used on. Most "show cars" have gone through several detailing steps and a very expensive paint job to get that rich wet look. As you know, a mist and wipe product is really just cleaning off the surface dust on a finely prepared surface and giving it a bit of shine.

Mike, you're probably right but I am going to order some and try it out anyway. Who knows, it might be the magic product that we all have been searching for. I'll spend the $13 to find out.

I thought some of you would think the name Fukken Wax was a joke name, but if you check out the website, you will see it is a legit product.
