That film streaking your windows is exuding
from all the plastics and vinal in the car.

Try this, I had an old car that I was about to have the windshield replaced in because it was so bad. I tried this, I had to clean it twice but it made the glass seem to disappear. Use it with newspaper spray on wipe off with one pc of newspaper then polish with a second pc of newspaper. Is available at most auto parts stores and major discount stores in the auto section.

Lately, I've just used a clean wet cloth to wipe down the windows in my cars and then dry it off with paper towel. Seems to leave fewer streaks than any of the glass cleaners I've used.

In the past, I have actually used crumpled up black and white newspaper, because it contains no lint as described in this article http://www.mobileworks.com/cleaning_car_windows.html

In the past year, I have used my leaf blower just to simply blow dry the windows, in combination with Zaino car wash (like some other car wash products, it doesn't leave any streaks/water spots.) The leaf blower idea started as the only way to properly dry my fussy wire wheels, and then I started to blow dry the entire car. Saves on washing/drying car towels....

I was thinking of changing my TBN name to leaf blower guy, but..... no, I don't think so...

There are several tricks to clean glass, I mean clean where no matter what angle you look through them or whether you are heading into the sun or what have you. One trick is to make sure what you are using (towel, microfiber, or whatever) is clean. Most people use too much soap when they wash cloths, towels, sheets, and so on. If you use a towel or microfiber cloth that has been washed in a washer then chances are they are full of soap and thus when you use them on car glass you leave a soap film and streaks.

I have specific towels that I use only on the windows of my cars. When I wash my car drying towels I wash the load twice, once with soap and once without. Then I take the window towels by themselves and wash them again. I peek in the washer on the final rinse cycle and if there is any suds what-so-ever the towels go another round. May be much more trouble than most people want to go through.

I realize many people use wax or polish products on glass and if that is one’s preference then that is fine. However, because of the nature and purpose of these products you can buff from now until the cows come home & you will not be able to get the film off until it wears off. Window cleaner used on polished or waxed windows will result in all kinds of streaks.

One of the worse of all things is tire shine stuff on windows. The F350 I drive gets washed at a full service car wash because it takes me over 2 hours to do that beast and so the full service place has to be good enough for it. I get a kick out of watching a guy rub tire shine on the tires of one car and then jump to another with silicon on his/hers hands that is immediately transferred to the towels and then onto the glass, vehicle body, etc. That, along with the fact that their towels are dirty, is why your windows are always streaked after being “cleaned” at a full service car wash.

Anyway, one of the tricks to crystal clear glass is using totally soap, grease, and silicon free towels or microfiber cloths.

I have used Invisible Glass for about 5 years and wipe dry with crumpled newspaper. Fantastic results. Turns out the best newspaper to use is the free paper in our town, too. It is a tabloid using the older (taller) size paper, which is about 50% recycled.
