I have tried to watch the tach while accelerating (swiftly) and I can't determine the RPM's when it shifts from 1st to second and/or the redline. I know this is governed but who knows at what number? I have a 2002. Thanks

Re: Where's the redline?
I am not sure how accurate the tach is for I have experienced shifts at what appeared to be like between 6200-6300 and I have also let out of the gas when the pointer hit 6500 and the car did not shift 1st to 2nd. I beleive the governor is set @ 6300.Lonestar

Re: Where's the redline?
Well that explains my reading problem besides keeping one eye on the road. I would think that the tach would be electronic and therefore right on accurate. Do the later tachs have a redline painted on them? i never had a car with a tach that wasn't marked. I'm sure it was on the 56 I had so long ago (maybe 5200?)

Re: Where's the redline?
no colors on the tach on any of 02-05 years. No need for colors since in theroy you can not over-rev the engine (plus it probably saved 2 cents per car in silk screening).Lonestar
