  • Detailer’s Bag

    Ok Folks, I'm on the hunt again. This time it's for a Detailer's Bag. I've got one of the ones that have the Thunderbird script across the top but I'm looking for something a little more robust. So far I've found 2:

    One from Pinnacle (Wolfgang) ---> http://www.pinnaclewax.com/pinnacle-detailer-s-tool-bag.html

    And one from Meguiar's ---> http://www.autodetailingsolutions.com/Tote%20Special.htm

    Anyone got any suggestions? Anyone have experience with either of these?

    Chuck I think Dino has this one: http://www.smartandtiny.com/product....oductid=124251

    It look very robust and items looked well organized.

      I went to Sears some years ago, browsed the tool bag section, and bought a huge Craftsman bag and a matching smaller bag, both with lots of pockets, for about $30. I'd give Sears a look to see if something fits. The large bag holds all my detailing equipment, including my small vacuum cleaner, and I keep the smaller bag in the trunk with a first aid kit, air compressor, jumper cables, &c. Heck of a deal for two nice bags.

        Chuck,

        For all the detailing you do, I think you need a full size duffle bag to carry enough stuff.

          I have had several of the Meguiar bags from ordering detailing material. It's nothing to write home about Chuck, just a duffel bag. The others mentioned in the second post look nice, I would get one of those if the Meguiar ones were not free.

            Does anyone know if the fella who use to make the "Thunderbird Logo" detail trunk bags is still doing so?

              Gees Chuck,

              You could have posted this BEFORE your birthday

              You've got me thinking though.....the personalized "Sweet T" bag Bruce gave me......I use it when we go away for the weekend.....it's not a detail bag, right? Bruce?

                I went to Marshalls, got a nice soft sided Samsonite, smaller than a carry on, but bigger than a shaving kit, about 18" x 8" x 12" tall. has zippered pockets on each side and each end, elastic pockets and a snap out plastic zip bag on the inside. Works great and cost about $15.00. Plain simple black canvas and if I want to add a logo I can.

                  Bruce is correct, I have the bag from Griot's Garage shown in the first link. It is by far the sturdiest and most well organized I've seen. I highy recommend it Chuck.

                    Barbara, I believe Bruce's bag is a travel bag - I actually used it on my recent trip to Waltham. It's amazing how much stuff you can get into that thing. I had mentioned that I needed a detailer’s bag to someone prior to my birthday (not a NEC member), guess they forgot. Thanks everyone.

                      Joe,

                      It was Jeff Poole that made those bags. Or at least I think that is his name. He is the guy that made the etched logo for the portholes.
