Just came from the marina where I parked front first behind a telephone pole lying on the ground as a parking lot devider. Don't know what I was thinking but I drove forward to make a u turn forgetting about the pole. Crunch.. I scratched the under the grill part of the grill in two places and to make it even sadder I found that the previous owner had done something similar and it was repaired with bondo. Just want to share.

Re: I am so bummed out..
Really sorry to hear that Jon. Hopefully you can get it fixed as good as new soon. And no bondo, will not last long on the flex type bumper.Lonestar

Re: I am so bummed out..
What a bummer... You now have an opportunity to get a new front flex bumper and fix it right. As Lone Star said, that old repair was not going to last for ever. This way, you made a mistake on an already defective part.

Re: I am so bummed out..
I had nature do it to my bumper. A coyote ran out in front of me. $1100.00 Canadian for new bumper, 1600.00 installed and painted. Make sure you ask for a new one or they try to find a used one first.Attached Files

Re: I am so bummed out..
when i purchased my Tbird, there was some blemishes on the drivers side of the front plastic bumper. You could really see the "waves and bumps" in direct sunlight. I had them replace and repaint to seal the deal. Then a deer took out my drivers door and window 3 days later. But... all repaired and better than when I got it.

Except for the CarFax report. When the Coyote ran out in front of me, I knew it would be fixed but you can't fix the reports that devalue your car.Originally posted by blue731 View Postwhen i purchased my Tbird, there was some blemishes on the drivers side of the front plastic bumper. Re: I am so bummed out..
The true value of my car is that I own and use it. I have no intention of selling anytime in the next two decades. Having said that, if I did a private sale, I have the original pics I took of the big dent in the door. Personally, I don't think that a REASONABLE person would suspect frame, engine, or water damage from a large door dent, so I suspect the report would have minimum impact on the value. Again, private sale, not dealer knocking off large sums so s/he can make a buck.Originally posted by Treken View PostExcept for the CarFax report. But your point is well taken.

Re: I am so bummed out..
Thanks to all .. a few days later I am 'better now" it is not so obvious to the non Tbird nest observer because the 'others' are just so awed by the car in general that if I shut up they never see the obvious. I am going to wait it out thru the summer and see if
1. someone backs into me and their insurance fixes it for me
2. I repeat some similar dumb move and then fix it becaus I REALLY need to
3. I go to the "bumperman' "like the dent wizard" and have it repaired like it bondo was
4. epoxy the fragments back on the bumper and airbrush it myself back to "suit me"
in the meantime i'm going to spend my hard earned retirement excess on new jib sheets and go sailing ... jon
