Dash Trim for 2002 'Bird

Has anyone found a dash trim supplier that replicates the 2002 dash/door trim? I don't believe that Powersport Corp. offers one that is close enough??

Just for comparison to the original look.......Sue's '02 is the same color as yours. Funny but it never looked "plain" to me before I saw yours.......Thanks for that BTW!

I'll disagee with you here, as I love my woodgrain dash kit (don't think I got it from this dealer tho) and how it looks in my bronze. I don't think I would have cared for the aluminum in the bronze, but love it in the Tbird blue. I personally think it depends upon the car itself.

I just ordered the kit, I spoke with a gentleman named Roman. He said they don't keep any trim kits in inventory, that the kits are made up as the order is placed. So the kit for my LadyBird will be made up tomorrow and shipped out Wednesday by Priority Mail, 3 day delivery, so I will have the kit by the end of this week. He said that the original trim that came with the 2002 Thunderbird is a painted on version of brushed aluminum, but that what he offers is an actual light brush stroke into the aluminum. He told me it will not be a perfect match, but that it is so close that no one can tell the difference unless they really are looking for it. I have seen these kits in several other 2002 Thunderbirds, the kits look very nice, so I don't think I will have any issues with what he is offering. The kits can be returned if the customer is unhappy, the drawback is there is a 25% restocking fee.
He assured me it is the full kit (not the partial) that it is being offered for the Thunderbird for $99 plus $12.95 priority shipping. This is a pretty good price, too good of a price to pass up.

Yes, it is a full kit. I did not want to put some on though, like around the front speakers.

Although this finish is the closest you can get to the original aluminium dash, I found out to my expense that this particular color tends to yellow over time, creating a mismatch against the stock pieces becomes obvious...
To solve this, I removed mine and chose another finish (titanium burlwood) instead...Too bad though because when new, it was simply gorgeous like in the pictures "Treken" posted.

This stuff is junk. When it discolors or starts to peel off you will have a real mess. Trying to remove it is a major job that can destroy the original finish leaving you with the only solution to buy more junk to hide it. Most used car buyers would back away from a car that had this stuff on it. But that's just my two sence. Leroy

"Leroy", this stuff is NOT junk like you say ...Yes it discolored but never peeled off by itself. As for peeling it off, it was not too bad to remove...just a little patience, some "elbow grease" and some mild solvent to soften the glue...that's all. As for "car buyers backing away"...well, that's your opinion, but not necessarily a fact...

Thank's for the info Claude, and no, you did not break anything, that's what this site is all about isn't it, INFORMATION. I think it looks amazing, and if for 2-3 years have to replace, so be it for now. It is bought and already on. As far as getting off, 3M is usually no probs if real hot and using alcohol underneath.

DON'T use alcohol!... It's much too harsh...It will definitely harm the plastic! Instead, use some more "gentle" stuff like WD40, or some varsol...but nothing strong like alcohol, thinner, etc...!
