    Re: Pacific coast model

also buy a Ford extended service plan shop around new/used premiumCARE it covers a lot more then the BaseCare does and get it as long as you can. This car is not cheap and comes with it share of problems.

I bought inexpensive sheepskins at Costco for $15 apiece. You could dye one to match since they are wool. Or, just buy the gray ones. They might be a little tacky but they work just fine.

The other alternative is to buy seat covers for several hundred $$.

      Thanks

Or you could just get a black one and sit on the seats.

          Re: Pacific coast model

          Hi all,
I'm still here bugging you. I took my wife to see the PCR and she liked it-not loved it. She has a much clearer eye than my love infatuated one. She pointed out the many scratch marks (marks where the paint is off. but not past the undercoat) and the thunderbird emblem on the front of the hood is damaged. Facing the car, the left thin part of the emblem is broken off.
My question is can you find that part for a PCR. It has green mint painted interior to the emblem.
Also, can you find exterior touch-up paint for a PCR.
The carfax shows the car has been on the lot since May. and has been through an auction 2 times in 1 month before coming to this dealer. Though 1 owner. I'm not sure what to think about that. This Dealer is not taking good care of this bird they haven't even cleaned her up.

            Tim:
This is a tough decision. I did pay extra for a very clean example. Fall is coming, which means convertible prices drop untll next spring. Prices can be negotiated.

My humble opinion....Don't pay a premium for a car, even if it is limited production, when you can get a non-limited, clean version for less money.
If the car is less than perfectly maintained, other areas may be affected to... such as oil changes, tire maintenance, etc.

Buy a car and color you immediately know is the "right" one.
You're not buying a used Taurus... you are buying a hobby and a passion. Pick the right one.

            Thanks

              Thanks Carl (CVCashmere),

Sage advice. My wife agrees with you.
I think i've been influenced by the "limited edition" aspect of the car. Though this PCR is still a beautiful car (under all the dirt) I don't think this is the one for me.... Sigh of relief.

              Thank You Again

Tim, I think you made the right decision on this particular car. Maybe you see more Retro Birds in CA, but here any Retro Bird is somewhat of a "limited edition." It's rare for me to meet another Retro on the road. What ever Bird you end up with will be special. It always puts a smile on my face when I drive it. I never park it and walk away without looking back - at least once. There isn't another car on the road, at any price, that I would rather own.

                      Re: Pacific coast model

All the birds are great and always draw attention. If I hadn't bought this one, my second color choice would have been the merlot.

The PCRs I've seen have all looked somewhat 'dirty' inside because the sueded section always looks dingy.

But, as others have said before me, get the one that is right for you. I wouldn't have it any other way.

                        Re: Pacific coast model

For my retirement in 04, I purchased two Fords, a new PCR for my wife and a 1950 F1(needing full Restoration) for me. The PCR now has less than 10K miles, looks likes new and gets plenty of attention and comments whereever it goes. Or, maybe it's Dixie! The car is always garaged and gets very limited exposure to wet and snowy (none) weather.
I seldom drive it and I kid Dixie about her expensive grocery cart. It's a small town and everyone knows it's Dixie when they see the car. She is from So. Cal. so she thought the PCR was appropriate. She was always fond of the Beach Boys so her plates say "Go Grani".

A spotless PCR up for bid on Ebay from Lakewood,Co. with only 21,800 miles ended this afternoon. There were 23 bids, the highest $21,100.00 and the reserve was not met. Someone questioned the owner how much he would take for it, $27,000.00. I think he was lucky to get 21K in these times. He may have gotten more had the car been under a transferable warranty, but it wasn't. Leroy

Golden, Colorado, now that brings back some great memories of some Thunderbird conventions that we attended in your area.

Forget the warranty. We have a "04 PCR, low mileage, well taken care of, and in good condition. $27K is entirely too, too much for this bird.

There are two limited edition cars on Ebay, one is a 1963 thunderbird the other is a 1978 Diamond Jubilee Lincoln Continental. Both are priced high because the owners think limited means they are worth more. Engine size is the only thing I ever noticed that made a difference in car worth. Check out Oct issue of automoble 1968 L88 corvete sold for $318,000
