...what did you do with your Thunderbird this weekend?

There are only a few weeks left before many of you will be storing your bird for the winter. Which means some of you only have a few weeks left to make some Tbird history for 2009.

my story for the weekend - we are having some much needed rain so the 'birds have been sheltered.

Same here Dot. Today is supposed to be clear but cool this morning. I've been working a fundraiser for the DAV - Forget Me Not - over the weekend so I'm taking the Bird this morning. Ravens kickoff is at 1 so I'll be back for that, then back to the fundraiser. Our weather was pretty bad all week as far as rain.

Rain over here too. BUT.......hey it's FL. We always have some rain. Soooooo, today the NM will get a mother Nature Washing, as we head down to TIA to pick up our neighbors daughter for a surprise B'Day Party. She has no idea her daughter is flying in, so dispite the rain, she'll be traveling in style, at least from Tampa to up here on the NatureCoast in the NM with me. Looks I may get to try out Aarons trunk rack for the first time. Claire say's her's is staying dry (LOL).

This summer I purchased some Zaino polishing products and have been very pleased with the results. The polishes have produced a beautiful deep "wet" shine with tremendously reduced swirls. Today I want to put the hardtop on and start applying the Zaino. I'd like the bird to look its best for the upcoming Thunderama show in October. With the top on, I also want to apply the T-Bird decals to the porthole windows. That's about it for today while dinner is in the slow cooker.

My poor Tbird has been neglected this year. With the move as well as all of the rain we've been getting it's been a big time garage queen this summer. Haven't been able to get the hardtop off yet, so that has been a pain as well. Next weekend I may have a spot cleaned out in the garage for the top, but no one to help take it off. May need until I can get the full extra bay cleared out and install the lift.

Yesterday weather was great and made a trip to Venlo (about 100km) top down.
Had to have the car checked and listed for the yearly Kiwanis rally that will take place in two weeks.
Look forward to that, this years rally will take place in Germany in the area of Frankfurt am Main, Asschaffenburg, Odenwald.

Today, despite the little rain we had, I detailed the car and went to KingCruise. Last show of the season and it was Mopar theme. Lots of beauties came out for show. I did not see any retro's (what's new), but I parked in a nice lane with three older Birds.

Moondoggie & I have done some top-down quilt shop-hopping all over Tidewater. Goldi is jealous, but she's resting up for CC Thunder. We put her top back on last Sunday; took MD's off. MD hasn't been topless since Savannah!

Oh, and Friday evening, I "met" Ski's wife, Mary, via my on-line quilting forum! Ski said I 'shocked' her when she realized I was a Bird owner, and was on TBN! I've been on the quilting forum for years!

Small world, Elle. It's been many years since I've talked on a quilt forum, like about 9 years, ever since I started following the Tbird intro on the net.
Haven't got back into quilt shop hopping though as I still don't have that room back yet. But when I finally start goin again, it will be in the 'bird.

It's beautiful here in Northern Indiana, not a cloud in the sky and high of 80 expected, in fact the ice cream truck just went down the street. I'll be going topless today when I go down to the VFW this afternoon to check my football pool numbers and see who I have in the Nascar Race. I'm getting anxious to put my hard top on though. I love the contrasting colors, it gives the car a whole new look. Maybe next week I'll get it on, It also gives me a little more room in my garage. Leroy

Nothin' but work (and rain) here since the Lunch at Bel-Airs in Princeton (thanks, y'all).

The top is staying off into the fall so we can drive thru the country to see the leaves change AND to see the Christmas Lights at Loy Lake Park with the top down. I don't have any requests to use the car in any Homecoming Parades yet, but still hoping. Also starting to look for Christmas Parade schedules for the area.

I do things backwards. I just took off my beloved white hardtop as Blingbird slowly prepares for storage. Need to "air out" the soft top - totally different look now - think I want to put the hardtop back on.

It has been and looks like it will be very sunny up here in Ottawa for several more days, so I should get some top down cruising done in the next couple of weeks.

All I did with my bird was miss it. What was suppose to be a two week stay in a auto body shop has turned into two months. On thursday they said next monday or tuesday at the latest. bummer

We have had rain on and off in South MS for the past few days, very cloudy, so mine has been in the garage, soft top up, and under cover, awaiting sunshine. I took the hard-top off and hoisted it to the garage ceiling with a full cover, earlier in the summer..
Just itching to get the bird out for a drive!

Dot, There is no way I'm storing my Bird for the winter! This is the season I look forward to, the top will be down almost every day at some time. If it rains in 10 seconds the top is up and an hour later the sun is out and the top can come down again. Never, never put the top down if it's wet, mold you know. But I forget, not everyone lives in the South. I spent enough years in the Chicago area to really appreciate Charleston and I'm sure there are many other Yankees that plan on coming this way. When summer is top down weather in the north, it's A/C weather here and vice versa.

We went to our former home town for the monthly cruise-in. It was the first time we had displayed our car there since 2004. I was amazed at how many teenagers took pictures and made comments about the car. The redline tires, red boot and pinstripes drew lots of attention. I also got the "Is it a '56 ?" question a couple of times. We stopped by one of our favorite restaurants and drew an audience there. Very few Thunderbirds in the area, so each sighting is treated as something special.
