  • New to this - Winter Storage?

Just completing our 1st season with our new-to-us '02. I plan on storing the car indoors (upstate NY) where temperature stays around 50-55 degrees. I have a breathable cover and I plan to disconnect the battery but leave it in the car as several of my friends do with thier Vettes and Mustangs. The garage has jumpers and starters available. I have read some of the previous threads on storage and have had several boats so I'm cool with the oil, engine stuff but since I am a rookie let me pose this question: If I disconnect or take the battery out, can I still get into the trunk?

yes, you can still get in the trunk. Behind your driver's seat on the front edge of the shelf, you'll find a key hole which is attached to a mechanical cable to open the trunk incase your battery is dead. (Doesn't help much though if you've also accidently locked your only set of keys in the trunk prior.) Just use your key to open the trunk.
Make sure it works before disconnecting the battery incase there's been any damage to the cable over the years - it's happened before.

    ps - welcome to TBN

Welcome Bob, yes you can. There is key slot behind the drivers seat on the rear panel. Dick

As you think of questions and can't find answers here, just ask. timing can take longer though between replies.

Bob: The question of storage comes up every year and there are many tips on prepping your car for storage that you may want to read up on. Here's one of the many threads on "winter storage"

Is the garage "mouse proof"? Some folks have had problems with the critters making nests using parts of the car to do so.

I think so - my friends have been storing 2 vintage Corvettes and a Mustang Convert. there for years without problems.
