(Sorry to preach so much, but I just wish someone had preached to me.)[/quote]

Sorry to hear about your hearing problems, this is story I shall show to my youngest son.

I have a son who is in a punk rock band as a profession and he has been playing for the past 15 years. He is now 28 and has lost 40% of his hearing because he has the diseases of youth.....it won't happen to me..... and........he doesn't listen.

Despite being told for all those years to wear ear plugs he didn't listen to me or his doctor and eventually will probably exprience this maladay.

It has been said for years, "It is a pity that youth is wasted on the young".

Like most men my age and married for almost 40 years I too have selective hearing. (Like Charlie Brown when his teacher is talking.) I am glad that is the only hearing loss I have.

Re: Men, convertible drivers at higher risk for hearing loss

A close friend of mine from grammar school is now getting it bad. He frequently visited bars where his son played in a rock band, and it finally hit him.

Sad part is he knew what it did to me, but figured it wouldn't happen to him. Unfortunately, he was wrong.

But, I'm glad to say that other friends of mine and my son-in-law have started using earplugs in loud situations.

I've been driving since 1960, and, except for possibly 3 years, I've always owned a convertible. Who knew that bit could affect your hearing?
