They don't check tire pressure in Fritz at the vet, but they did tell us (and charged us) for determining the "FLATULENCE" pressure in Fritz at the vet.
Will are you saying that Costco will deflate your tires an refill them with nitrogen for free?
Not your tires, new tires!
Purchasing your tires from Costco Wholesale, whether it be online or from one of our local warehouse locations, provides you with several key advantages. Our published retail pricing includes all of the shipping and handling costs associated with your tires.
The Installation Package also includes Lifetime Maintenance Services that extend throughout the life of the tires you purchase. (Some limits may apply). These Lifetime services include inflation pressure checks, tire balancing, tire rotations, as well as flat repairs.
Upon the service of your tires our Michelin Certified Tire Technicians will also install new rubber valve stems (Note TPMS valve stems and accessories will be an additional charge).Additionally, we inflate your tires with nitrogen, not compressed air. Nitrogen retains tire pressure better over time than compressed air, which can positively impact the life of your tires, as well as the fuel economy of your vehicle. We offer this service FREE OF CHARGE.

“THE EDGE,
there is no honest way to explain it
because the only people who really know where it is
They don't check tire pressure in Fritz at the vet, but they did tell us (and charged us) for determining the "FLATULENCE" pressure in Fritz at the vet.
You should have had the doggie motel capture Fritzie's "FLATULENCE" and then used it to inflate your tires. Who knows, might be better than nitrogen.
In post #2 John said it was a scam to fill tires with nitrogen.
In post #19 John shows what Costco does when a customer purchases tires from them.
No one anywhere in the thread said that Costco will deflate your present tires and refill them with nitrogen for free or even offer this service for a fee.
And besides all of this the thread actually started out as a reminder to all of us to check the psi in the Bird's tires whether they are filled with air or nitrogen.
So here it is post #20 something and time to put this thread back on track.

Yea we need twenty or thirty more posts telling us "I CHECKED MINE LAST MONDAY" "I HAVEN'T CHECKED MINE IN TWO WEEK"
Yesterday, before I saw this thread, I checked the pressure on my '02 'Bird
tires (bought it it July--hadn't taken the opportunity). All read 35 lbs cold.
I checked the spare, remembering dire warnings about low pressures, and it read 15 lbs. Oops--that one is now 60.
If I remember correctly, dry nitrogen is used in military, airline, and racing vehicles. Dry, because compressed gasses can also compress and concentrate water that also contributes to expansion with heat.
So, how much does gas expand with heat? To learn more, I turned to the ultimate source of information, Science Fair Projects. In this one, http://www.selah.k12.wa.us/SOAR/SciProj2000/BreeS.html, various gases were heated and volume increases measured. The attached graph shows the results. Not much difference between pure nitrogen and pure oxygen and one might conclude that a mixture of 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen mixture (aka air) won't expand much more than pure nitrogen.
Oxygen can deteriorate rubber, so there's another consideration whether to use pure nitrogen. I would guess that DRY is the operative word for interior health of tires, but I would imagine that more deterioration occurs OUTSIDE
the tire than in, so the inflation gas won't make much difference in the long run.
Unless you inflate with krypton, of course.
The point of my rambling remarks are basically try 30psi and notice the ride benefits at the expense of a decrease of 4 to 10 percent in gas milage. Anybody done that? or are you all digital tire pressure carrying daily pressure checkers and have already chosen your psi fates?
I checked my tire pressure when I was in Chattanooga and they were all different, 24, 28 front; 30 and 39 rear.
I put them all at 35 lbs for the return trip and got better gas milage and can't say I noticed any difference in the ride quality, but then again it was 800 miles home on good roads (didn't go back thru Michigan).
I know, what the sticker on the door panel says but it wasn't like I was doing any hard cornering or going over rough roads.
I check my pressure every time I start up, if its low I get a message on the message center telling me which one and how low it is...gotta love "TPMS"...but they seem to be holding air just fine, I do run a check from time to time and also get e-mail on the condition of all the mechanical and electrical stuff on the car and both PU's.
Say what you will about nitrogen but its far better for your tires, if it has used on aircrft tires and hydralic accumulators it must be better then compressed air; reason is it is dry, no moisture in it, less rot, less corrosion too, both are big factors.
These new fangled ideas sure can screw up the mind of us old school guys aye; working in the aviation industry does help though.
Having the right kind of tires on the bird with proper inflation is extremey important as it is hard to look at one and tell if it is low on one of those quick walk arounds.
