    Road Speed Vibration

    I have a 2003 with 42,00 mile and for the last 10,000 miles I have had a vibration, like an out of balanced or bad tire at 75 MPH. not bad just annoying.
    It's the wife cars and it is a cruiser not much hiway speed.
    One of my tires had a flat some time ago, that was fixed and I thought it maybe a vibration do to that tire.

    I ran the tires almost to the wear bar, This is Las Vegas, no snow or rain.

    Today I had a new set of Falken ZE 912 tires installed with electornic balancing and the 75 MPH vibration is still there.

    The car rides much better and is super quiet but it still vibrates.

    Does anyone else have this vibration problem?

    Check the rear bushings. They may be rotted out causing metal on metal rubbing in the rear suspension.
    Unbelivable TBN trips including ALL of the lower 48 States plus 9 Canadian Provinces, 8 European Countries, 3 Caribbean Countries, Countless National Parks and have attended well over 100 TBN Events since 2001 and counting. Best of all ... fabulous friends.

      David: Do you think he may have one that needs the X-Braces tightened?? Years ago that was a big issue for some.
      I have never needed to have that done on my '02, but I haven't forgotten either, just in case

        I think before I did anything, I would go back to the tire dealer and tell him they were not balanced properly, since you are having this problem.

          Could be a bad rim from the flat.

            I've had that problem. It began with my first replacement tires and Big O. The vibration started at about 70 and lasted through 75. Big O did multiple balances as did Discount Tire with their over the top system plus filling the tires with Nitrogen. Did not help. The second set of tires from Goodyear(Toyo) and the problem remained until I had Ford change the shocks/struts at 50,000 miles. They didn't want to do it...said the struts were fine but the replacement stopped the problem. Go figure.

              I think the x-frame braces was strictly an '02 issue. I never heard of a later car needing them tightened.

                04s had a loose x-frame issue, but I don't think it's there either as that would have been noticeable at any speed over rough road.

                It's possible, since Welker had his solved, that there was suspension damage to more than just the tire going flat back then.

                  Had the same problem with a set of bridgestone's had them road force balanced at my work where you move the tire on the wheel till the heavy spot were across from each other and still it shimmed I did eveything that you guys did even to look under the car the car only has 28000 miles on it. The only way I cured this was to throw the bridgestone's away and put a set of michelin's on it. I had the guy down the street mount and balance them so it was not even close to a road froce balance and guess what I do not get a shimmy at any speed it is just like it came from the dealer. ALL I KNOW IS I WILL NEVER USE ANY OTHER TIRES THEN MICHELIN'S

                      Borrow a set of wheels and tires from someone else & try it. Also try yours on that persons car. Possible Big O bent a wheel. If it stops on your car and starts on the friends car you borrow the tires from. You get the picture!

                        Very well could be a COP's problem too, my car had a severe vibration stopped or running at any speed. Engine light never did come on.
                        Is the car missing at all?
                        BTW, 9 COP replacements later, I'm feeling and hearing a slight, but constant vibration again. I guess time will tell what's going on this time..........

                          Engine runs great, no missing.
                          When the wheels were balanced they were spining and there was no wheel or tire run out.
                          Swaping the wheels and tires with someone is a good idea but I don't know anyone with a T bird here.

                          The old Mich tires vibrated at 75MPH and now the new Falkens vibrate the same exact way, so I don't think it is the tires or the balance.

                          The old Mich tire that was repaired did not go flat I just saw the nail in it and had it fixed.
                          I have owned the car since new and it has never hit a curb.

                          I will find some time to inspect the bushing this weekend and report back.

                            If you think you know the wheel that's making the car vibrate, you might try putting your spare on in place of it and take it out for a test drive. If there's no vibration at 75MPH, then you know your rim is bent. Leroy
