Battery light came on today, so had World Ford replace the original in my 2002 manufactured in April 2002, so the battery lasted 7 years and 9 months.
Never had one last any where near that long in the many years I have been driving. The cost was $169.00 including tax. Also, just replaced my tires going bald at 25,000 miles.

I do not know who has the contract to build the MC batteries but my experience has always been excellent with them. I have never had one fail but then I usually change them according to time. On the other hand, I have never had a Delco battery that came in a new vehicle last longer then 3 years tops and the prorated cost to replace has always been way too much for a battery that I have no confidence in lasting the time on the warranty.

I agree with you, Lonestar, MC batteries outdo themselves. I replaced the battery in my '97 Cougar after 9 1/2 years only because I didn't want to have a surprise some cold winter morning. The battery in the T Bird is factory and still going strong, but then the car only has 16K and is connected to the battery tender all winter. The T-Bird is a summer driver and I may start carrying a booster battery for that eventual day that the battery won't start the car anymore.

price seems to be way high.....threads here seem to indicate approx $110....less sometimes on special.my battery is orig and seems to be going strong

The "desulfating" action of the battery tenders must actually extend battery life. I am still running the original batteries in both my 2000 F150 and 03 Bird. The truck sits out in sub-zero weather and has never failed to start. I only put the battery tender on the truck for a two week period each winter when I am out of town. The TBird has it for a couple of months of the year.

My battery still going strong 92,000 miles and 7-1/2 yrs after buying the car new.

The battery in my 02 manufactured 1/02 is still going strong, just had the car into the Ford dealer this week and the battery tested good. The car sits out four or five days without being started and always starts.

Well, mine died a few weeks ago and had to be replaced.

Made it 5+ years.

Try S.Fl. if you get 4yrs on a battery your lucky.It's the heat that kills them.When mine died it was fine one day and the next day it was stone dead .No warning ,Leroy I think he had the dealer install it.

I just replaced my original battery a couple of weeks ago. Was fine one day and dead the next. Bought my 05 in April of 05, that's about all I expected out of a battery here in So Florida, like Ediron stated, about 4 years is all you get. Had mine replaced at my servicing dealer, dealer where I purchased my car. Battery cost was $111.00, installed there for a total of $130.00.

I would agree completely! I just installed a replacement on 1/21/10. The local dealer had one in stock and quoted me the list as 114.95. When I asked him for a Ford Retiree discount the price was 101.16 plus tax. See my thread "Reset Window Position". I doubt that the list prices on batteries would vary much, if at all, from state to state.

I wonder if it would be a good idea to start a "sticky" on some of the replacement part prices. See also the thread "Transmission Failure" that quotes both $1000 and $550 for the Trans computer control unit.

On the battery, I had done some searching on the web, but got the same story twice, that they cannot be be shipped because of HAZMAT regulations.

The battery was $124.50, labor 29.95, 3.00 misc (?), 11.71 tx = 169.16. It adds up quickly. but if it lasts another 9 years, it will be worth every .01.
(The 124.50 includes !.50 State Batt Tax, an obvious rip-off)

when you figure a dealer install it's about right.I installed mine but asked at the dealer $20.00 for installation.You do have to figure all the taxes and in Fl. they have a couple of extras.

I did some checking with 5 different Ford dealers in my area and found that they all wanted $114.95 for the battery except one wanted $112.46. The prices included giving them your old battery, or if you wanted it the price would be $8.50 more. The last time I scraped a battery I got $.10 a pound for it. Labor to install at 4 of the dealers was $15.00 except for the biggest dealer that's Lincoln & Mercury too, wanted $28.00. I'll never take my car there. The only other quote I got was from NTB for $162.00 installed and the guy assured me it was a vented battery and a better battery than Ford's, with a better warranty? I think when it comes time for me to buy a new one I'll put it in myself, unless it's an emergency. Leroy
