    Re: Bird won't start

Mine has been covered in my garage since Thanksgiving or there abouts. Today it's about 50 out there so I tried to fire it up. She was deader than a door nail so I jumped it with my GMC pick-up and wha-la! She fired right up. I let it run about a half hour and sat in it looking for any idiot lights to come on. I also checked my window drop and radio stations and they were just as before. Then the big test, I shut it off and then tried to start it on it's own, thinking I might just hear a click and a grunt but no it fired right back up again. I'll let it sit all night and try it again tomarrow. I was tempted to take it out for a drive but there's still too much dried up salt and nasty pot holes out there, I'll wait. Leroy

P.S. Yes, It's the original battery. Probably my first time out I'll take my TBird to my Ford Dealer for an oil change and I'll have them test the battery.

I had a thought for those of you that find your batterys drained after a period of storage. I have an '02 that we purchased in 9/07 that had the original battery. It has sat in our garage for 3 winters now and never had any problem with battery drain. Some factors may have been low mileage (bought with 4500 & now have 12000) and the fact I start it every 2-3 weeks when stored. My thought is that I never locked it when stored as I worried the security system with the light on the dash may drain the battery. Not sure how much the security system draws but wondered if those of you finding battery drain have their cars locked while stored. (PS - even though never had a problem with battery, I just bought a new one as 8 years is old for a battery).

        Re: Bird won't start

Previous threads seem to indicate a possible fuel pump problem related to 02 Birds. Mine quit last Fall while it was being driven.

Mine needed a main fuel pump. $716.00 installed. Seventy degrees today! Glad I spent the $$
