PCR Wheel Part Number and Description

I'm pricing PCR wheels for a replacement and I'm getting a tad confused in talking to the parts department at my local dealership. When I look up the part via year and model at any online parts distributor, I come up with a silver sparkle finish 17 inch wheel; however when the dealer tries to locate the part via my VIN he comes up with a 17 inch mirror finish wheel. The wheels on the PCR are mirrored on the spoke faces but they are certainly painted a silver sparkle on the rest of the wheel. Does anyone actually know what the PCR wheel is referred to as and/or have the actual part number for the true PCR wheel, for sure? I checked Porthole Authority and know that the wheels are 17” 16-spoke micro-machined wheels with Monterey Mist Green painted rings around the center caps. but couldn't find the part number.

You want the 17 inch mirror finish wheel
silver sparkle finish is for other '04 models.

Lee, I'v got my PCR wheels stored. I looked all over the wheel and can't find any numbers stamped on it. Anybody have a clue where the #, if one might be?

My 04 came with the 17" 16 spoke machined wheels marked on the window sticker as a no charge option in place of the std. 17" 7 spoke chrome cast alum. wheels. Leroy

I've admired those wheels for quite some time. Can I put them on an 03? Do I need to buy new center caps as well?

Joel,

The 04/05 16-spoke wheels have totally different center caps than the 02/03 7 or 21-spoke wheels and are not compatible. I assume that the overall wheel sizes are identical however.

The wheels from '02 thru '05 will interchange between any year car ('02-05) with no problem, IF you have the correct centers for the wheel. For instance, '02 and '03 wheels have the same center and '04 and '05 wheels have the same centers. I have run '04 21 spoke wheels on our '02 with the '04 centers. If you have two sets of centers ('02-'03 and '04-'05) you could use any stock wheel on any '02 thru '05 T-Bird. Some of the centers are painted to go with a certain paint scheme, but a pair of chrome caps would work for most cars. The '02 Deluxe wheels had a silver painted cap, so you could need a third set for the painted wheels.
In Fact, I have 4 different sets of wheels, maybe I could run a different wheel on each corner. An '02 Premium and '05 Premium on one side and 21 spoke '04 and painted '02 on the other.

I don't think I've ever seen a 21 spoke wheel, are they similer to the 16 spoke? Maybe I just didn't notice the difference? Leroy

THE NIEMAN MARCUS AND THE 007 HAVE THE TWENTY-ONE SPOKE CHROME WHEELS. THE STANDARD 02 AND 03 PAINTED WHEELS ARE TWENTY-ONE SPOKE.

Since you're just replacing the wheel, is your current PCR center cap in OK condition? When you buy the wheel, the center cap does not come with it. If you need a pcr center cap, too, I have seen them on ebay.

I have found out why I couldn't understand the 21 spoke wheel. On my computer desk I have a Black 1/18 scale diecast TBird model with the NM wheels, and instead of 21 spokes there are 24, and I assumed they were correct. Leroy

The 24 spoke wheels are correct for the concept Thunderbirds of 1999 that Ford had on the show circuit. That diecast manufacturer just never made new wheels for the production models cars.

MY GOODNESS, THE THINGS I DO NOT KNOW. SO BEANSTALK GOT IT RIGHT AND MATISTO DID NOT CORRECT FOR THEIR LATER MODELS. NOW I WILL HAVE TO FIND A CORRECT SET OF WHEELS FOR MY 1:18 LIMITED ADDITON NIEMAN MARCUS.
