Which is more desirable, a carefully maintained five year old vehicle with 1000 miles on it, or a carefully maintained vehicle with 30,000 miles on it?

For a 5 year old car, the low mileage vehicle is probably the better one. That changes over longer periods because some parts deteriorate from age and lack of use. Over 10 years, tires and fluids that should have been changed would not be on that 1000 mile car. As a result, they may cause you problems. 5 years shouldn't be too serious regarding age wear.

Cars do require a little exercise to stay in tip top condition, just like people. But you don't have to run marathons to stay healthy.

It's a no brainer! If they're identical, the lower mileage car will cost more because it's worth more. Mileage = Wear on every part of the car as well as Time. Rareity will be the big value factor in these cars as, time goes by, along with low mileage and condition. Leroy
