Is anyone aware of a quality soft top replacement. My old Chrysler Sebring convertible had a terrific soft top. It was of a vinyl composition and seemed to last forever in "new" condition. My '05 gorgeous T-bird has a sad looking top. There are fold markings showing wear and some dirt than won't go away. Any info will be greatly appreciated, Thanks for looking.

Just like you I have a light colored soft top as well. Sand is just as hard to keep looking nice and there are some experts at top cleaning who belong to TBN. One of the products is called "Ragg Top", I believe, and when a small amount of Bleach is added to the mixture and allowed to soak in for 5 minutes or so the top will look much better. When these light colored tops get dirty, they do look rough, but when cleaned up they sure set off the car nicely.

The colored tops are also cloth / canvas. All tops, regardless of color are the same material.

...Hi Bradford....I stand corrected....The black tops are made from a material called Landmark and is a three ply composite made of an acrylic square weave/elastomeric inner layer and poly/cotton lining....the coloured tops are made from a product called Twillfast JX....which is an acrylic twill weave....maybe the twill weave, which is a different texture than the square weave, contributes to the cleaning issues?

Mine has a black top; however ragg topp really does work(at least on the black). Took me two hours to really clean it and then mask offf the car and re-waterproof, but it really does look like new.

RaggTop products work great on my 05 Medium steel blue top.
My Bird is my daily driver, it is our only car so it is out in all kinds of weather and birds, the flying kind.

Haartz made the tops for Ford. Haartz recommends RaggTop products. They do not sell RaggTop. You may find it in some auto parts/supply stores. I have found it easier just to order it direct from the manufacture, Wolfsteins.

Well, since the original question was replacement - - - vinyl pin-point is an option. Do a search for convertible top replacement and you'll find a few vendors that sell it for the Bird. Pin-point is the standard for most American cars, old Beetles, and some others. Advantages - cost (50% of canvas), serviceability, color choice. Disadvange - may not last as long and real Bird people will laugh at you. It's really your choice, however.

I have used RaggTop, 303, and Meguiars Marine Canvas cleaner over the years to clean my Light Sand top. All have worked much better with bleach added to them. I have found one does not work better than the other, but the trick is to clean them befor they get too dirty.

We also have a Cashmere 2005 with light top. Never been out in open. Always top down or covered and we still have dark spots on top. Have tried to clean it with Ragg Top, but it does not really come sparkling clean. Next cleaning I will add a little bleach to the mixture. I think this is the price you pay for a light top. Similar to the seats that do get dirty quicker.
Our other bird 2003 with black top looks as it just came out of factory never cleaned and stored as the other one. I would hate to see this light top if it were never covered.
