I was just wondering cause I've been reading a lot of these threads and haven't really been seeing much about performance mods. I mean i see exhaust and some people with tunes but nothing else really, just wondering.

Re: Anyone interested in performance?
Have you checked out the LS forum over on lincoln vs cadillac, I don't have a bird i have an LS but seeing as there the same drivetrain and all i figured i'd try and offer some help if i can.We have a guy down in Austin with a supercharged setup and plenty of nitrous setups as well as at least one turbo all on the 3.9 V8. We've also got Limited Slip Diffs :)
Here's a link to the supercharged LS thread

He's done a real good job tune and all. we also have a kit somewhat the link will be in that thread.

Really don't have any performance anxieties. .....Bird is the word.....

Re: Anyone interested in performance?
The most performance mods for our Birds I believe are 1)performance exhaust systems, 2)CAI and 3) new tunes. I haven't heard or read about much engine work to our 3.9L.http://www.thunderbirdnest.com/membe...00&ppuser=1190

Re: Anyone interested in performance?
There was some talk on this forum at one time that the transmission in these birds could not take over 300HP and be reliable. Wonder what kind of transmission the supercharged concept had in it? I believe there was another Ford factory produced supercharged bird that just had a Jaguar supercharged V8 engine and transmission transplanted into it.sigpic

Re: Anyone interested in performance?
I'm from the "race your car at the dragstrip every Sunday" era of the early 60's, which, unfortunately, put my 57 BelAir into an early "retirement" back in 65.
But, as much as I love stoplight performance (never cared much for high speed stuff), my 03 Bird and my 04 LS provide all the performance I need.
However, I would have loved to see how my Bird or LS would have stood up against my 65 Vette 327/300 4/speed in the standing start 1/4 mile.

Re: Anyone interested in performance?
I did Borla's, CAI, polished aluminium cold air intake tube, but the best mod was the high performance trunk mat - can't live without it!sigpic
