Spring Fluff Up

The Straight Eights Car Club held their Spring Fluff Up last weekend in Winchester, VA. Only two Birds showed up, but they were very nice examples. Club is non-marque specific - we get everything from big 'ol Imperials to little bitty Austin Healys. Had a good turn out this year, but these are the two you might like . . .

Of course I am partial to the red one. But I am reminded that I wonder why Ford did not re-invent the DUSTY ROSE when they brought back the Birds in 2002 and subsequent years.

According to the owner, it's coral - but not the same coral as the retro.

We co-hosted with Tri-Valley, another chapter of the international club. I don't know if it was the distance or our members just weren't ready, but most of the classic cars were Tri-Valley. We had the 2 birds, the Austin, my SO's 65 Mercedes 230SL, a Geo Metro Convertible, and a few others. Among the Tris was an original Continental Mark II, a Rolls, a mid-sixties Caddy hearse, a 50's fire truck, a nice Studebaker, a gorgeous DeSoto (also pink) . . . like I said, a little of everything.

Nice looking batch of cars. Any pictures of the Continental Mark II, Sealy?

color discussion. I'm surprised no one mentioned that the "red" 'bird is Merlot. and the 56 Thunderbird color name is Sunset Coral - not at all like Dusk Rose. Sunset Coral is a bright pink with a little hint of orange in it.

As for color, someone did mention coral.
