  • Contol on Steering wheel not working

This is not a new problem and one that I probably will not worry with, however, the Volume and other switches on my steering wheel(not the cruise control) do not work. They never worked when I bought the car last year. I have never wanted to worry with it until now. Anyone know about this?

clock spring most likely needs to be replaced. It's in your steering column.

Do a search on "clock spring" and you should find more info about it.

I had the same issue when I purchased my '02 in August. It also affected an airbag sensor in the steering wheel. Is your airbag light illuminated on the dash? I had the clock spring replaced since the original owner agreed to cover the expense and deduct it from the selling price. We took it to a local Ford dealer and, if I can remember correctly, it was around $300.

Before you check the clockspring...Do you have an aftermarket radio?

. . . and a lazy/penurious installer? That was my first thought, as well. My radio is aftermarket and my buttons work.
