  • Puzzling color info on '79

I have some spot repair done on this '79 early next week.
The guy that needs to order paint is getting stressed up...;-)

The Vin plate says car has body color 3H.
In the Ford color charts that color stand for Medium Blue Metallic.

If I visit automotivetouchup.com I get the color named 3H as Medium Blue metallic
    http://www.automotivetouchup.com/cho...43&search.y=10

Then again I found another chart that says 3H...= Medium Blue Glow*
    http://homepage.mac.com/kaholton/topsdown/bird79.html
The asterix means the color was an option and extra cost.

Need to find a proper code at least to have paint made.
Whenever we type in 3H we get another paint name then anything referring to Blue.
Somehow we cannot reproduce paint recipe in NL.

Frits. Try this site. It is quite reliable. That is probably where the Med. blue Glow came from. It gives the Ford reference number and also the "Ditzler" cross reference code.
      Martin.

ps. My files show "Med. Blue Met." was last listed/used for the 1974 year production Thunderbird.

        Thanks Roger, thanks Martin.

Cannot find any reference to the FX, but did find this on the site Martin gave
        3H - Medium Blue Glow* (3184)

hope the paintshop can work from that.

Frits - everything I've found says that what you have is medium blue glow. The medium blue metallic was code 3F.
