Ditto on the photos and the thanks to Paul!! I'm local here so I've been back since 9:00pm Saturday () but I wanted to let everyone know what a great time Mary Jane and myself had. This was the first TBN event that we attended and we enjoyed meeting so many other members and had a great time on such a beautiful day. Hopefully we will attend other events and get to know all of you better!

Re: 55th Anniversary travel home check in

Once again, many thanks to all the gang that organized such a wonderful weekend, a great opportunity to see so many Birds together and put the faces to the names of people that are our TBirding friends.
Although it was not on the way home, we are in Milwaukee to visit Toni's cousins that she had not seen in over 20 years. So today we wil do some sightseeing with someone else driving, then back on the road home tomorrow. I know we took over 400 pictures and will post when settled in again.

Re: 55th Anniversary travel home check in

Made it home last night a little after nine. I did anyway. We discovered that the alternator on the truck went bad when we stopped somewhere along the PA turnpike for fuel. After that we didn't make any other stops for fear we would not get the truck restarted. Wes finally had to stop about 5 miles from his house when the truck died. He has already replaced the alternator this morning and has the truck and his 55 back home safely.

Thanks to Paul and his team for a wonderful event. It was good to see everyone and to meet so many new Thunderbird friends.

Re: 55th Anniversary travel home check in

              HI Everyone,

Thank you for all your very kind comments. It is really nice to hear that everyone had a good time. I am sorry we only had 298 Thunderbirds. I really did expect 300 cars, but when the hotel sold out about 30 days from the show, we were in trouble. Who wants to drive all that way, and not stay at the host hotel. I cut the Greenfield Village drive short because many cars were overheating, and we did have two trips thru the Village. Thank you for visiting Dearborn, and thank you for coming to our little show.

Here are a few links to some video I took while in Dearborn. The first three are of the cruise through Greenfield Village on Saturday evening. The fourth is that very interesting Hindu wedding tradition that we witnessed Saturday morning at the hotel!

Arrived home today around 2:00 PM. Nice leisurely trip through Wisconsin and Minnesota. Unpacked the car and hopped on the garden tractor to mow the lawn. Thanks to Paul and his help for a great time!!

We arrived home at 6:20 this evening.

doubutsu (Mike) - we only made it to Rolla last night. Must have been an hour or so behind you since we stopped around 6:00. We were pooped out since our 57 has no AC and the weather was hot and muggy for most of the day's trip. Today much cooler.

Re: 55th Anniversary travel home check in

We arrived home about 30 minutes ago after spending the night in the St. Louis area.

Paul, Marie, Mark and all involved in the planning and execution of the event did a great job. Thanks a million to all of you. Friends old and new made it even better and the good Lord filled in the gaps with great weather for the whole event (okay, it was a little warm Saturday, but that certainly beat liquid sunshine by a mile).

Once again the little car we bought 8+ years ago performed well while turning over 63K during the trip. It is hard to believe that an automobile could be the catalyst for all the friends we've come to know and fun travels we've had since November 2001. While I'm happy for the folks that are just now purchasing their Thunderbirds for the first time, I'm also feel sorry for them because I know that they will never know the fun, fun, fun we have had during these past few years. Here's to many more - long live TBN and the friends associated with it !!

I'm in the process of putting together a video of this wonderful 3-day event. I'd like to use some of the pictures you've all posted. Please let me know if you have an objection. It seems I never get photos into albums, but lately putting a movie together gives us a wonderful memento of events and vacation trips.

                                Thanks in advance.
