Power Point Plug Cover

Has anyone replaced the Power Point Plug Cover on their Retro Bird.
It is located in the dash right side, and will accept a "cigarette lighter".
I bought the bird with just a round fitting "I think" in place without the attached plug/cover.
I found one on Ebay, Item number 390190941595 "still available" and bought it.
Now that I have it I am afraid to force anything.
Does anyone have any experience with this part?

I'm, somewhat as usual, confused. You have the female power receptacle in the dash, but the cover is missing? A full replacement unit from Ford is your best bet - the dash panels pop out and replacement is relatively easy. Of, if you just want to fill the hole to make it look neater, for a couple of bucks, PepAutoZoneTrack sells a insert cover.

That eject button is too funny. Didn't 007 have that in one of his Austin Martins? Albeit not so clearly marked.

I have one of those. I put the cover on the cig lighter side and put the cig lighter in the glove box. Grerat fun with the grandkids. I wish it was lighted.

There be the odd TB ducks that swear by keeping the hard top in place. I don't think that would work for them. Although, it would be interesting.

It appears the old cover broke off so the ring is still in place.
(around the right cigarette lighter)
I need to remove the ring and install the new one I purchased from Ebay.
I was wondering if anyone has done this and how it was done.

When you eject from the cockpit of an aircraft, you don't push a button. You grab the two handles above your head and pull the facemask down to protect your face. This puts your arms in the right position and first blows off the canopy then the seat blasts off. If the canopy doesn't come off, you go right through it. Then you free fall untill you reach an altitude were you can breath the air and the drag chute automaticly pulls out the main chute. Most pilots have severe back problems after an ejection. Leroy

I think the easy way to replace the cover is to pop out the lower curverd panel. It just pulls straight up and out. It is removed, you can probably reach up to the back of the lighter receptical .. it really is just a common lighter receiver. Turn the back of it counter clockwise and it will loosen up. Once it is completely loose, pull the front part out and the replace the torn cover with your new one.

Make sure you have it so the tab on the new cover is at the bottom, so when you open it the cover flap drops down.

then reverse the proceedure, tighten the back onto the receiver and replace the lower panel.

I remember in the movies the cigarette lighter triggered the eject. Remember Cannonball Run? The actress reaches for the cigarette lighter, he pulls a Zippo from his pocket to light her cigarette telling her we wouldn't want you to leave so soon.

Okay, I watched too many old movies.

Thanks DavidA Thats what I was looking for although I got so much more! :)
I found the ring to be plastic and I simply pulled the old one out will some needle nose pliers and pushed the new one in, it snapped into place. Thanks again David A
