    HELP!

In the last week, Cashmere developed a nasty vibration in the plastic header panel above my head. it happens at 55 MPH or higher, whether you are in gear, or not. It is loud, and very annoying.

I am not sensing any additional vibrations through the steering wheel (balancing issue with the tires).

Any quick fixes out there that could help resolve this?

    thanks!

Carl, The sound can travel all over the cabin so it's hard to pinpoint but I suspect you're having the same problem that

Did you have your cabin air filter changed recently?

Which top are you using? I had a similar problem with my soft top and realized my top was being held down with only one clip.

Ditto...twice I put my soft top up, and did not notice till I got on the interstate, that only one latch caught. Always be careful and patient when putting top-up, to watch that both latches are catching, before clamping down the top's handle. At least that is another possibility. For me, each time it was the passenger side "clamp".

If the hard top is on it might not be tight, check the screws. If the soft top is up chances are it's one of the J hooks. Leroy

Re: Horrible Vibration Coming From Roof Header Panel

Interestingly enough... I changed the cabin filter about 3 weeks ago. It could be the problem, so I will check for tightness.

But, it seems to come from above the sun visor. Now, I am going to experiment with the top down and see if it still vibrates as bad. that will rule out the j-hook loose or not catching.

More to come on this one.

              Thanks!

Happened to me too. right hand side did not latch. walking by I noticed top slightly raised. good advice to make sure both sides latched.

Carl, if its the cabin filter, I believe you would find that the cover is just not seated correctly

I received this advice from Dot and from MatBird and was somewhat skeptical. After all, after changing the cabin filter, I had screwed down the plastic pop fasteners on the black plastic thingee (cover?) as I was supposed to, and EVERYTHING was tight. The instructions were right-on, and the fit was perfect!

So....just to humor everyone, I went out, banged down the black plastic cover with my fist just so I could move on to checking the J-hooks.

What was that sound? A little "click"???

Yep, one or two of the pop fasteners appeared to be locked only part of the way down.

This weekend, I tested out at 70 MPH with both the top up and down.... NO VIBRATION! I was truly relieved.

                    Thanks for the great advice!!

Carl, Glad it worked out for you. Yes, everything has to be tight after changing the filter.

Good for you Carl. I just had the dealer change mine and warned him that if done incorrectly he'd hear about it, if I had to come back. - I didn't so they must have done it right.

I always go to the man (either dealer or my favorite ford mechanic who runs his own shop now). That way I usually get if done correctly. I was a music teacher not a mechanic. I can take a flute or clarinet, most any instrument apart and put it back together again. But on cars I let the man fix it.
