    Re: NEW INTERIOR EDITION

OK, Here you go. I'm pretty sure someone on here has done this before but a first for my car.

When I had to have my left tail light replaced after Dearborn I had a problem, I had the old Thunderbird wing decal on my tail lights. Well, the new lens didn't have it and my dealer even called me because he couldn't find one like the original in Ford stock and wanted to know if it was something I added and I said yes, don't worry about it. I do have another set of these decals somewhere but haven't been able to find them after we made the move to FLA. So I got the right side decal off and started thinking........ I know that's dangerous! What I decided to do was take two of the 4 1/2" wings we sell in the TBN Store and ground all the tabs off of them. I then, very carefully bent each side of each wing to fit the contour of the tail light lens. I then used some 3M auto tape I had laying around and took a craft knife and cut off the extra. I then centered each one and placed it in the middle of each lens and here is the result.

I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out.

Spence, they look great! Now,you've given me another idea. I have a pair of chrome tailight covers which I haven't installed yet. How do you think the wings would look with them or do you think it might be too large. Are the wings the same as the one I have on my dash? Also, how would you bend them?

        Re: NEW INTERIOR EDITION

I'm not sure how it would look with the chrome light covers you have, are they just the ring or the full cover that covers the side of the lenses?

As for bending them it has to be done very carefully or you could snap off the wing. I laid each wing on the edge of the workbench and held it down with my one hand and aligned the wing right on the outside edge of the bird on each side of the wing on the work bench. I then applied a little pressure on the wing. I did this on both sides until I got the correct curve of the lens.

I don't know what is on your dash but if you bought it from the TBN Store then it is the same one.

Spence, is this the one? I agree, it would be too large since it is the full chrome tailight bezel. Is there any other that might work?

These are the only ones I know about and the only ones we carry in the store.
