    Smooth as butter

    Just returned from a 2000+ mile trip from Jersey downhome to Chattanooga and Atlanta and back. What a great ride. Saw a few other 'birds along the way (another evening black just north of Baltimore, a Tbird blue in Atlanta and another evening black in McDonough). At mostly 75-80 mph on I-81 the car averaged 26 mpg, and had reserve power even at those speeds. She handled effortlessly in the mountains of E. Tennessee and was great fun to drive on the old roads that snake in and about these hills. The engine purred (love the throaty rumble) and response was as smooth as butter. Only downside - all the bugs that were splattered all over the front, but thanks to a previous application of Ice Detailer they came right off. Got plenty of grins, thumbs up , and compliments along the way. Back in Jersey now and off to the shore! Gotta love this car!

      I'm jealous,no place to take a road trip here and hit those kind of speeds for any distance.

        Too bad we did not know you were going to Chattanooga, we could have met up for lunch. Chattanooga is only 90 minutes from us and one time change. Maybe next time. Glad you had a great time!

          I've posted this before ,as there are a lot of cruises going on and there are a lot of bugs flying to spatter your Bird keep a Bounce fabric softner sheet or two .Wet them and rub lightly and all the bugs will come off.

            It was a great trip. Hope to return between Christmas and New Years Day.

            Hawaii - I was there the end of July for a week in Honolulu and saw one 'Bird. You will have to be content to do like my oldest son. He took it out last Spring after we had just taken off the hard top. He returned with a big grin saying, "I didn't go over the speed limit (55), I just got to it faster!"

            Bounce - good tip, though with the Ice Detailer on, they really did just wipe right off.

            Nashville, would love to see the red top with the black.

              Sounds like a great trip. We took our TBird down to San Diego this weekend and also cruised along between 75-80 both ways. I saw three other TBirds (Two black and a red one) all parked in the parking lot of Trader Joe's while there. The gorgeous weather apparently brought them all out for a spin:).

                  Just be sure you don't recycle them in the wash afterwards..
