Re: speakers
I don't know if the 2005 is different than the 2003, but you can see my speaker in the door motor replacement fix I did.Originally posted by tomgaz View Postcan i fit 6x8 speakers in the doors without cutting anything. thanks
I would be careful putting any speaker in there that wasn't designed for that odd shaped area.

Re: speakers
Typically yes. Most, if not all, 6X8 speakers have the mounting holes for the 5X7 and vise versa. The physical speaker locations in the doors and the shelf will accommodate 6X8s with the 5X7s mounting holesOriginally posted by tomgaz View Postcan i fit 6x8 speakers in the doors without cutting anything. thanksLonestar

Re: speakers
You do not have to cut wires if you buy the wiring kits for Ford vehicles. They plug into the existing harness and have pigtails that you wire to the new speakers with spade lugs.
As I said on another thread, I replaced the rear speakers with the factory front ones and put in new high quality front speakers. I am very happy with the sound quality, but I did change the radio out for a built-in GPS unit.Unbelivable TBN trips including ALL of the lower 48 States plus 9

Re: speakers
The cutouts are actually 6 x8. I ordered a set of Kenwoods for my '02 Bird and they fit perfectly. Crutchfield supplies all the connectors and instructions specific for the TBird. Installation was a breeze. I did all four - front and back. http://www.crutchfield.com/p_113KFC6...3PS.html?tp=92
Later I added a subwoofer since the factory one is pretty lame. I ordered the Bazooka BTA 6100 and removed the plastic shelf in that back and mounted it in the trunk. http://www.crutchfield.com/p_204BTA6...00.html?tp=114 My head unit is now an Alpine CDA 9896. Again Crutchfield supplied the mounting adapters so that it fit perfectly in the T-Bird dash. http://www.crutchfield.com/s_500CDA9...ssi=0&tp=27783
