Why Official?
Because I now own a Thunderbird!
I went down to look at the 2002 WW at Galloway Ford that Handyman was talking about.
Took my title too.
You never know...........
I drove the Cadillac.
About the 2002.
It is cherry.
The interior (red/white) is gorgeous.
The rest of the car looks like it should look with <> 13,000 miles.
The starting price was $23,708.
I even drove it.
Very nice.
Somebody should jump all over this...because I did not buy it.
After I agreed to buy it (contingent on a cursory look at the "red" one on the showroom floor).....we walked into the showroom to write it up.....
Oh boy.
That's where I found out what color I REALLY liked.
But still........there was that 02 interior.....and the low miles.........
Let me stop and explain where I am coming from.
I started this quest to get rid of my two cars that no longer fit my life style.
I wanted a nice convertible.
That's it.
I had no thoughts on buying a collectible.
I didn't care how many miles it had...tho I was hoping to find maybe a nice
BMW/Volvo/VW/Mustang with maybe less than 20K.
Then....I thought of the retrobirds and came over here.
I passed the WW, because
1- It is close to a collectible, but I can do better right here on this forum.
Donald Breaux has one as does T-Birdy.
2- The 04 was a better deal. Cheaper anyway. Of course it has 31,900 miles, but it is in great shape.
And since I believe that the Tbird motor should be good for 150,000 miles and since I will likely never put 10,000 miles on it in a year.....
It should outlast me, easily.
And to me, it is a nice convertible, not a collectible.
Why didn't I buy one of the TBN birds?
Because I had a trade in.
Galloway had no problem giving me their car complete with TTL and Fees AND writing me a check for several thousand dollars!
An individual couldn't do that.
So I own a 2004 Merlot with Black interior.
BTW, I went ahead and bought an ESP Premium extended warranty.
48mos/48K, $100 deduct.
Paid too much, $2450, but it takes the worry out of being close........
Have to pay if you want a car to be under warranty with 80K miles.
By the way, as I added in another thread..
It specifically covers the ignition coil(s).
Forgot to ask this question........
What octane gas should I run?
The car was nearly empty, so I bought a tank of mid grade 89 on the way home.
Think back to how you felt when you bought your first Tbird, new or used.......
That's the way this old man feels right now.
(I know they all look alike...but I'll try to post a pix anyway.)
