  • I can't take this any longer

Re: I can't take this any longer

The quick and dirty way is to use a Monster cable that goes to the cigarette lighter; it charges and transmits via your radio if there is a station with poor reception for it. Where I live it worked fine, but others in metro areas aren't very pleased since there may be few spots on the dial to use, or it fades in and out. If you can find a line in solution, it will be far better. Give Crutchfield electronics a call, but before that search the archives at TBN, you're not the first looking for a solution. Just to ease your misery, here is a link to old time radio that can be a hoot:
              http://www.otrcat.com/index.php

And if you really get desperate, here's an interesting bit of trivia you can try:
              http://bizarrelabs.com/foxhole.htm

And if worse comes to worse, the CD player does hold 6 CD's....

There are a couple of threads on MP3/ipod hookups so try a search. Some of the folks are really into the electronics and the conversation can be hard to follow. My solution - go to Best Buy. I'm up to about 3,300 songs on the Zune with room for 9,000 more.

I just thought there might be a "consensus" adapter. There is on most boards.

I have used a USA box on my Caddy and a Factory Adapter on the Mercedes.
Both worked pretty well, charging the ipod, taking the sound out of the iPod Before the audio stages, and allowing Fwd-Rev along with volume from the Steering wheel. Obviously Bass-Treble, DSP, fade and balance still work also.

It looks to me like this one should work.
                  FRD03-POD/S(5v) by PIE.
As opposed to many, it says it will work with the6 disc changer in-dash.
It is indeed the same radio in the Tbird or the Lincoln LS.

I'll look into this with my local Stereo shop that did the Caddy.
They are Car Tunes in Ft Myers, if anybody locally is looking for a good shop.
They do changeout and upgrades to radios, speakers, Nav units, alarms,etc.....

BTW I was an electronicer in another life.
Worked at Bell labs and had my own electronics business in NJ a loooooooong time ago.

We've come to a consensus that we all own T Birds. After that, it's all down hill. Don't even mention color, collectability, or drive vs store.

P.S. Lots of people are happy with the adapter. Some of us, however, went with upgraded replacement.

Yep. Hank Jr. He has had a long and profitable career.

And Hank Sr even Fathered a girl out of wedlock, Jett Williams.
Jett has never showed the least interest in Show biz.
Her fight to get a part of the Hank Williams Sr legacy reads like a soap opera.
In the end, she won and has half of all the rights.

Yeah, well I feel that I am loved on the drive versus store....

I am a driver. I fully intend to drive the wheels off of this one.
Of course, I will as usual, maintain it to the Nth degree.
That's one less bird to be collected......which drives up the value of the stored birds.

That adapter will work in an '04 or '05. However, I have the older version of it and the steering wheel controls are not fully functional. The volume buttons work, but the fwd rev buttons do something odd that I haven't tried to figure out. You can use seek fwd and backward on the radio face, but they skip randomly sometimes, not just one song. Playlists don't work.

I use it with about 500 songs on my nano. If a song comes up I don't want to hear at the moment I skip forward. If I try to repeat one, sometimes I get lucky, other times random skip. It is still better for me than the radio transmitter style because there are no clear frequencies in my city.

If you get one, you can now get it with an additional aux input that allows other MP3 players in addition to your ipod.
