    Re: Misty is growing up

Have had a bra on our 05 since purchase in Nov. 04. Only on during road trips and taken off as soon as possible.

The bugs and gravel are not difficult to cope with knowing the front end is protected. The worst hit was blowing tumble weed, that then got caught in the netting and continued to move around with the wind. Not a scratch.

I would suggest the use of a bra for any road trip. In town and around not necessary but out on the highway anything can come your way.

Any of our folks opt for the transparent film (maybe it was a 3M product) that was marketed about the time the retros came out? I recall there was a kit for the headlight assemblies as well as for the nose and hood of the car. Just wondering how they worked out.

        Re: Misty is growing up

Over the past 8+ years I have seen/read the pro's and con's on using these Ford Bras. I have put this off all these years but decided to get one. I don't care for the look of them but they do provide a service and they work. I have seem many with the invisible bra on these cars but after a short time the seams or edge start to show up and you still have to clean them of bugs. I do have this 3M product for my hard top protection but didn't want it for the front of the car.

It's all about choices and this is the choice I have made.

If I'm forgiven for the very bad jokes, can you explain what the hard top protection is? Is it for the leading edge near the windshield, or is it for the contact area between top and body to prevent damage from flexing?

It's to prevent damage to the body paint where the top sits on the body. Flex isn't as much the problem as dirt getting underneath the top's rubber seal.
