I have some corrosion on the chrome above the windshield, driver side. It is small bubble with a hole and a little corrosion showing through - total size is about half a dime. I've read in other places that there isn't much you can do other then rechrome or replace the part. Any advice?

Re: Windshield Chrome Bubble
I bought all 3 pieces from Tousley Ford, can't remember the exact price, but after checking several Ford dealers around, I remember Tousley had the best price, and do remember it was around $300.00 +/- including shipping. Changed out all 3 pieces myself in less than 45 minutes.Originally posted by merlot4 View PostI've only seen 2 of the 3 pieces available from Ford, so you might extend your search to salvage.sigpicBradford + TOTM April 2009 05 Thunderbird Cashmere #702 /1500 , ' 04 Acura TL, '79 Buick Electra Limited, Landau Coupe, '67 Mustang Convertible

Re: Windshield Chrome Bubble
I got all three pieces from Titus Wills Ford -- it said only two were available but when I called, all three were in stock (and they were not short on them either).
The piece is really coated plastic, so there are no fixes for the most part.
Bradford -- did your 2005 need them or did you buy them to have them? I thought only the earlier models suffered with this issue.

Re: Windshield Chrome Bubble
Merlot4, I don't know if these were in their stock or if they ordered them. I also bought a factory replacement leather cover for drivers seat as my Cashmere interior is very light colored and wanted to get my hands on this before they became obsolete. I think the young man I delt with was named Mike, very helpful and went out of his way to help me and make sure I was satisfied.Originally posted by merlot4 View PostThis is very good information, Bradford! Do you think this going to be limited to what's in stock at dealers?
Katxoxo, I needed them, one side was replaced several years ago, and since the top and one side was starting to bubble.
On another note, I plan on cleaning up the 3 pieces taken off and having a local paint shop paint them a Charcoal or Silver Grey and clearcoat for future use when replacement is no longer available.Last edited by Bradford; Nov 14, 2010, 03:18 PM.sigpicBradford + TOTM April 2009 05 Thunderbird Cashmere #702 /1500 , ' 04 Acura TL, '79 Buick Electra Limited, Landau Coupe, '67 Mustang Convertible

Invoice $38,457 - Sold new 9/15/2003
One of twenty two built like this
She was a good one. Sold 12/30/2014.
Replaced with 2013 Infiniti G37 Coupe.
A lot better car and even more exclusive, but doesn't have the Cachet the Thunderbird had. Adios, mi Amigo.

Re: Windshield Chrome Bubble
To get them off, remove the plastic trim panels on the interior 3 of them, above windshield and roof pillars, there you will see the bolts that hold them in place. Get a deep 9mm socket to remove them, get a magnatized socket if possible or the nuts get lost into a cavity impossible to retrieve from.sigpicBradford + TOTM April 2009 05 Thunderbird Cashmere #702 /1500 , ' 04 Acura TL, '79 Buick Electra Limited, Landau Coupe, '67 Mustang Convertible

Re: Windshield Chrome Bubble
It also helps to put some grease in the socket to keep the nuts from falling out.Originally posted by Bradford View PostTo get them off, remove the plastic trim panels on the interior 3 of them, above windshield and roof pillars, there you will see the bolts that hold them in place.
