David:
The chrome surrounds on '05 fender wells look just as ugly as it does on '02 through '04's.

........ customizing of the appearance is always an endeavor that invites commentary.
Although......I have to admit I don't know why so many people get their panties in a bunch over it.
Seems many people will only tolerate a favorable response to something that boils down to a subjective opinion. In any car oriented forum such ideas are ALWAYS open to commentary, IMO.
For what it's worth...... I haven't seen the "tack on" stuff I like here either. One of the most appealing things about the Retro-Bird is it's clean lines body-lines and transitions. This sort of added piece only takes away from that.

Re: chrome trim around wheelwells
I have a red 03 and did not like the large space between the wheel-well
and tires. The black tire also made the wheel-well hole look
bigger. I also did not like the fact that they did not have enough
chrome like the 57's. I like the stainless wheel well trim which gave the car the chrome look that it was missing and it also makes the NM wheels look better.

Re: chrome trim around wheelwells
Like others have said, tacky ( AS in tack on). It's an opinion, however it was asked in this forum what others thought. Not against mods, however in my opinion, and it's only an opinion, the best mods are what replaces something, ie chrome hood scoop trim, rims, exhaust, nav & radio systems self dimming mirrors. Not add ons. Some seem to forget, these cars are RETROS, NOT REPLICARS. The designers knew what they were doing. These cars are simply not that big, you put to much on them and it looks like a Pep Boys, AutoZone and every other car parts store threw up on them. If someone wants to replicate the original, go buy an original. I have yet to see much add on chrome or otherwise that looks to my likeing, wheel well trim, grill trim, side trim, window sill, etc. Again, that's my liking and my opinion. Just had to speak up here, it's the mood I'm in today. Still waiting on the '05 owner with chrome trim and a camera I'd guess.

Re: chrome trim around wheelwells
Go into the Gallery and look up fifty fifty. His photos of his 05 medium steel blue has the chrome wheelwell trim. They are good photos and you should be able to tell if it is what you are looking for.
Like someone said earlier in the flow, medium steelblue & chrome do look good together but I will add as a medium steelblue owner DON"T over doMike

Cut some aluminum foil into strips and put that where the chrome will go....you'll be able to get an idea of what it would look like.
