  • My new DARK BLUE PEARL hardtop!

    All,

Some of you may remember that last March, I was looking at painting one of my hardtops a non-standard t-bird color (see http://www.thunderbirdnest.com/forum...eferrerid=4790 for the thread).

I had asked for some opinions, and in the end I decided to go with Dot's suggestion of Dark Blue Pearl (Ford color code DX), since the tbirds that were supposed to have come out in 2006 would have been that color. Alas, those were cancelled, but the color looked good enough to me to be matched with my 2005 MSB bird.

Well, 9 months later, I got the top back from the paint shop, and here are pictures of it.

Please let me know what you think!

I like the colour, Bobby - nice contrast. Good looking TBird.

Looks nice but would like to see it in person sometime. I'm sure the pics don't do it justice.

Re: My new DARK BLUE PEARL hardtop!

I am going to try to make it to some events this year - was not able to make it to any this year due to Barb's illness and some other things. But I do plan on bringing it to some and showing it off!

Looks like I will be able to bring over to the Pappasito's event in January.

I think, the lighter colored tops look better. In the 50s when they first started two-tone paint jobs the lighter color was always on top. To me nothing looks better on the TBird than a White top and WW tires, that's retro class. Leroy

Yep, I agree Leroy, those look great, too! Good thing I got one of those also! I like to swap them about every couple of weeks for variety. Probably keep the DBP top on for a couple of weeks, then go back to the white, then the MSB for a week or two.

I LOVE THE DARK COLOR, AT LEAST IN BLUE, ON THE TOP. THAT WOULD HAVE MADE A BEAUTIFUL COLOR THUNDERBIRD. IN 1955 FORD PUT MOST OF THE DARK COLORS ON TOP AND BOTTOM, MIDDLE WAS LIGHTER. WE PAINTED SOME RANCHEROS THAT WAY IN 1977 AND LATER FOUND A SALES BROCHURE WITH THE LIGHT ON TOP AND THE DARK IN THE MIDDLE. THE OLD GUYS IN THE PAINT DEPARTMENT THOUGHT WHAT WAS THE WAY IT SHOULD BE. IN THE END IT WAS LEFT UP TO THE DEALER TO CHOSE.

Love that color! I would have LOVED to see a bird in that color - too bad it didn't happen.

I love the two-tone look of your car with that color top on your car; very strong look and to me -- a very masculine, strong color combination. Enjoy it!
