    Re: N0 problem

Just a thought from another trouble free 02 owner at 58,000. OK, clock spring at 48,000. Is it concievable that the cops problem is really a bigger deal on the 03-05's then on the 02's? and that Ford is actually right? As in the Allantes, manufacturers often cheapen up some "options" as the model ages because they feel that the added cost isn't justified. 02 tonneau, leather, interior texture .. Does the added horsepower come at the cost of other problems? Always seemed like a cheap fix for an obvious oversight of not putting in a Mustang engine in the first place. Why wouldn't Ford have added those horses to begin with except to increase reliability? What about the Lincolns? idi they change V8 configuration along with the 03 birds? The jaguars? Opinions please....

      Re: N0 problem

The engine change was scheduled for the LS even before the T-birds began hitting the street. The retrobirds got it because they are related to the LS, not the other way around.

Most of the '02 owners that I have caravanned with over the past 9 years have had at least 1 COP go out.

Our "Jewel" has had one COP problem (replaced all 4 on that side at that time), a power steering fluid leak, the usual stuck CD issue and is currently in the shop for a dead fuel pump and to replace the suspension parts that have deteriorating rubber.

These few issues over 9 years, about 63K miles and way more smiles are relatively minor.
      21 years, 174K miles, 48 States X 2 & DC, 9 Canadian provinces, 8 European countries, 3 Caribbean Islands, 3 Hawaiian Islands, 100+ National Park locations, 150+ T-bird events, 190+ retrobird diecasts/models, 13 TOTM pics & some very special friends...THANKS TBN !

Inspiration Yellow 2002. Recently had new rotors pads and tires installed. Infrequent oil changes, never a problem. Some winter driving, mostly highway miles for road trips (2) and club outings (TBN style) 52,000 miles. Original everything (except tires, rotors pads, WW washer fluid, oil and filter. 1 air filter change).
            What can I say...it's a great car!

                  Re: N0 problem

My '02 was manufactured on October 23, 2001 and purchased by me on January 1, 2002. The car now has 37,877 miles on it. The only major expense I have had so far is the $2,253.00 I spent last February replacing all the suspension bushings on the front and rear. At the time, the car only had 35,008 on the odometer. Other than that, it has been routine maintenance. Still, I did replace the original tires, because of concerns about their age.

                    Re: N0 problem

This thread has been started for owners who have had no problems so far with their Birds. If you have gripes like Barry does go to another thread.

Bought at out of town Chevy dealer in May 2010. Noticed rough idle and they told me it had 2 bad coils, but had arranged for Ford to replace. I bought the car and drove home as they had a buyer for my trade. On way home noticed A/C was not right. They came and got the car left a new loaner and replaced the coils and A/C compressor. Been great since, had 48K then and 52K now. But I bought an extended warranty through my Credit union just in case. It actually covers more than Fords. So far so good. I have owned very few trouble free cars in the past 50 years, but only 1 or 2 real lemons. I am pleased and impressed with rhis car.

Although the Bird is a garage queen, I bought it brand new in April '02 with 1.3 miles (still had the protective plastic on it). It now has 7031 (99% freeway) miles. There has not been any problems as of yet.
