Hi Again all,
Well only a few weeks till I get over to somne sunshine!!
I have heard there is a Ford sponsored car show at Daytona beach on 15th & 16th Gebruary. Does anyone have any details?

I land at Orlando international airport at 4:30 need to clear baggage and customs and collect a hire car.
How long does it take to drive from airport to Daytona Beach??

I have been told the car show goes on into the evening. do you think I will make it time to see anything??

Does anyone know of any other shows on between 16th and 23rd february in Florida area??

Also, is anyone linking up with me for a cruise during these dates as I would just love to see some local Tbirds.

Orlando airport to Daytona is normally 45 minutes, another 15 minutes to beachside. During Speedweeks, all bets are off.

I can't find anything about a car show on those dates - tried the Ford dealer, Chamber of Commerce, etc.

I suggest you pester the rental agency heavily about a Mustang; "or similar convertible" often means a Sebring (boring).

One suggestion for a cruise: Saturday the 19th, or Monday-Wednesday the 21st -23rd, we could meet at Oak Hill, south on US 1, for a drive through the Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge and lunch or dinner in Titusville (Pumpernickles, La Bamba, etc), or Merritt Island (Carrabba's, Red Lobster, etc). Saturday may be better for working folk, or Monday, a quasi- holiday. Any day is good for me.

How about it, Tbyrdy, kitkatcrzy, anyone else out there? Interested? Any other suggestions?

Hi Ted,
Thanks for trying but does not look like many TBirders are very sociable!! We would still love to meet up with you and go for a cruise because I am sure you will show us some great roads and interesting sights and good traditional food and if anyone else wants to join us that would be brilliant.

The car show turns out to be a 2 day event called "2011 Ford Race and Rock Fest"
Had a look online and seems to be more about music than cars but will still be good for us to see. Has anyone been before??

Is it worth missing a basketball game for? and rushing to try and get there in the evening?

Can not wait to get over to USA now.

Getting my Parts list together tomorrow and may order something ahead of time to make sure I can bring back with me.
