It would be very interesting to know more about what was done under the hood and how it changed the performance. Did greater HP require a different transmission as everyone here has speculated was necessary.
JOHNNY CASH WOULD HAVE DONE IT WITH AN ADAPTOR PLATE.
I also like the forward opening hood. I'll pass on the rest. IMO, one of the best design elements of our Birds is the way the body tapers down towards the rear. That beautiful and now uncommon feature is lost with addition of the tailfins. I love the '57 Bird but only as an original or restomod '57.
Back in January that car was sitting in a Ford Dealer showroom up here in Kitchener, Ontario. Asking mucho money for it. Think he is stuck with it.
Think if I wanted that look I would get a '57. Lots of them on the market these days.
Snowbird - It's not the same car as in Kitchener, but has same rear fenders. Weiland unit had continental, custom all white interior and many other mods as well. Engine was stock.
First I have seen pof fins mod and more I look the less I like it. It is aan excellent job but just doesn't blend with the rest of the car. I would guess you could almost buy a '57 for what all that cost to do. I am still thinking of buying a '57 and think having the retroe will make it even more enjoyable. I know several of you guys have both little birds and would like to hear how You use them etc.

Invoice $38,457 - Sold new 9/15/2003
One of twenty two built like this
She was a good one. Sold 12/30/2014.
Replaced with 2013 Infiniti G37 Coupe.
A lot better car and even more exclusive, but doesn't have the Cachet the Thunderbird had. Adios, mi Amigo.
Alex The Heretic Articifer A mass-produced car is a point of departure; not a dead-end. Gallery of Heresy "Wyrd literally means "that which has turned" or "that which has become"... It carries the idea of "turned into" in both the sense of becoming something new and the sense of turning back to an original starting point".
