  • Wrongs on WWW and e-Bay

Every now and then you see wrongs on the web and on e-Bay about the Ford Thunderbird.

Here is one I came across today:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=250784851325
No idea what car it comes from, but definitely not a '69 T-Bird.
Have to correct this. In fact it is from a '69.

While looking at images of the '69 Birds I came across this:
Scroll down to: Fifth Gen. Ford Thunderbird 1967-1971 "Big Birds"
    http://www.ridelust.com/today-in-his...-takes-flight/
Not sure what they show, looks like a Mustang roof line or a Torino Fastback.
    But surely not a 5th Generation T-Bird.

Like to know what you come across?

Yes, never seen one in NL. Would make a great one to bring across though.

She was a good one. Sold 12/30/2014.

A lot better car and even more exclusive, but doesn't have the Cachet the Thunderbird had. Adios, mi Amigo.

          Frits,

Re: the Ebay ad: I believe it is the small triangular piece that goes outside of the hide-away headlamp door. Here's a close up of a 1968. Ford kept the same nose shape for 69, but reworked each grille to separate the year.

Re: the Torino Fastback photo, I love that they called 69-71 "Big Birds" and 72-76 "Bigger Birds"

If that is so it's correct and I am wrong. Lo and behold...
Now I see where it suppose to fit.
            Thanks for correcting me James.

Re: Wrongs on WWW and e-Bay

Me either, at first. I kept searching mid 90's Tbirds and Cougars that had the small triangular grille openings to see if the seller transposed the year, but came up empty. Then I found other listings for similar pieces that helped me out. The seller could have possibly described it better, which might make it an easier sell.

Check out these bumpers that say they fit Thunderbirds...

If you look closely there is a tape measure that indicate the piece is only about6 inches or so long......... I think James has it nailed.

                      That will require some adjustment
